Winter tires for Model S

I'm looking at the Pirelli Sotto Zero 24w240 tires.
I believe these are the correct ones Tesla recommends?
I can get them for $1574.00 all in tax and installation included from a private garage.
Tesla wants $2100.00.
Suggestions?

I was looking at the Michelin X3 ICE tire but none are available.

Make sure the TPMS sensors are accounted for in both bids. I had the same tires put on at tesla (Springfield nj) for $1700 but I already had the sensors. Make sure your dealer also has software to calibrate the sensors to your system. These Pirelli tires are amazing. Haven't felt unstable yet in a bunch of rough conditions. They do make a little bit of flapping noise around 10-15 mph but not the hum you'd expect. Good luck, and don't wait to put these on!

I got XIce Xi3s for our MS, not sure why you can't.

I put the Michelin X-Ice Xi3 XL 245/45R-19 on my S. I have also put about 400 miles at two different times on SC loaners, both with the Pirelli snow tires. I have driven both on wet, snow and dry roads, nearly back to back. Both tires are very good. The Michelins are much quieter but have more sidewall give that lets the tire squirm a bit under hard acceleration. The Pirelli are very stable during hard steering, accelerating and braking with slightly better traction on wet roads.

Just this week I put Michelins as well
Tirerack had them in stock
Got the whole package, rims, tpms, tires
Very happy with price and performance of the setup

TPMS initiation is a do-it-yourself now with onboard programming.
