It's Time to Build Your Model S

Apologies if there's already a thread for this, but I just got my notification

It's time to have some fun designing and finalizing your Model S. We have made the entire process available online from anywhere with an internet connection.

The days of having to stop into an auto dealer to buy a car are over. We have made the entire process available from anywhere with an internet connection. You can design your car, request paperwork and even sign your paperwork from the comfort of your home. If you have not designed your Model S yet, you can start right here. If you already designed your car and are ready to request paperwork, just click here to continue the process.

We want this process to be fun and easy so if you have any questions we're here to help. If you prefer to walk through the process with an experienced Product Specialist, just give us a call at 888.771.2505, email us, or stop by one of our stores.

This is a very exciting next step and we look forward to sharing it with you. In just a few short months, you'll be one of the very first drivers on the planet to experience the fun and exhilaration of Model S. Let's get your car on the road!

Now off to make some choices... P779

@Schlumpf - there are posts about people that need to set the air suspension to High or Very High to prevent scraping the car bottom (and possibly the nose) when changing slope, like when entering a parking garage or steep driveway. I personally think you'd hate your decision if that happened to you every day!

IMHO the Active Air Suspension is the absolute must-have option right after leather seating (because they are heated).

@schumonster - there was something in the finalization process that implied that you had until December 20th (with this TTB e-mail to get the same delivery time as finalizing now). I can't seem to find that now, though.

@gettingampedsoon - I'll keep up the magical thinking. I think it's somewhat interesting that the range seems to be almost 600 cars with this batch (which followed a batch last week of about 600 cars). That either means that they have an expected cancellation rate of 33% or they are thinking about ramping up to beyond 400/week. The nice thing for Tesla is that by giving us a 2 month time frame, they have a lot of flexibility to make that decision much later in the process (e.g., once they see the full impact on reservations of COY).

I'm rooting for a ramp-up of production by January 1. Delivery by 2/1!!

@rallykeeper - if you get a 2/1 delivery I'll buy your first month's worth of gas - premium!

I also got mine at 2:00 today, 11/19/2012. P8467!

The story has been that your "place in line" doesn't budge for 30 days. After that, it starts to slip, and you re-enter the sequence after any preceding confirmations. YMMD.

Time to build-ya baby! P9004-got my email at 2 pm today, 11/19/2012!! Stoked!!! Great Thanksgiving present!!

Yeah! Received my "time to configure" email today. P 9001

Got my TTB e-mail @ 04:59 PM EST today. I must have barely made the cut for this round...#9061.

Lousy day at work suddenly made great. Sequence 8751 now in the queue. P85/Blue/Grey/Matte Obeche/Tech/Stereo/grey 21".
I don't see how, but they said Feb/March. It is probably wishful thinking that it come early March.

Actually, the computer has gone a bit loopy and is running ahead of itself. Add 4 months to your times.
Just Kidding! Almost sounds like another shift at full bore is being added, and post-MT CoTY reservations are going ballistic. Like Elon suggested. I thought he was rather laying it on sorta thick about the effect of that award, but mebbe not!

As a side note, this is the 2nd day running of $1+ jumps in the share price. Does somebody know something?

Looks like P9061 appears to be the highest sequence number to receive an email thus far. From TMC I found somebody indicating that you could expect delivery sooner than later if you configured with 85kwh and air suspension options as it means that TM does not have to re-tool.

I am I being too optimistic to think that i will get a finalize your order email before the end of the year and my car by march/april if I go with the 85kwh and air suspension?

I know Elon wanted to get production to a rate of 400/week, however, he may be trying to provide a suprise for the 10-k and show that post winning car of the year he has surged past projections for both orders and production rate.

what do you guys think?

9083 is the highest I've seen (Schlumpf)

#8554 I got my email yesterday and didn't even know it; work has been crazy lately, so I go days without firing up the computer at home. Wow--the moment of truth...I'm kinda curious about the price increase and how they are going to rebundle options. I need to know how the whole "snow tire" issue can work before I sign. I'll need to spend some time on the phone tomorrow...WooHoo, I think!?

9088 did not get an I guess the end of this batch is somewhere between 9083-9087!

Just some stats for this last batch, it started at 8,370 and ended at 9083, for a total of 713. That is a odd number!

@chuck - not only is it odd, it is prime. :-)

what price increase?

Check the Tesla Bulletin Board...increase & option changes to be announced soon.

I'm #9,094 - talk about close!

I'm ready to Finalize! Been monitoring my email like a hawk!

as an existing res holder, you'll have a reasonable period from whenever you get your finalize email. Only if you defer (too long) will the new pricing affect you.

Not worried about the price increase - just want to get that finalize button! Big next step in the whole process and makes me feel more like a Model S owner!

The later a customer reserves, the less time he will wait; just the way the system works in a ramping production environment. ;)

Want to keep this thread near the top!

@ nickjhowe

good joke, but let me spoil it for you: 713 = 23 * 31

Should be about time for a new round of emails. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I'm 9318 and was expecting to hear something yesterday, but just crickets so far.

@markapeterman - I'm right with you at #9358, and I am hopeful to get that email any minute as well...

Perhaps the Thanksgiving holiday pushed it back a day or two.
