Google flagged the following news story in The Business Journal (of Milwaukee):
Res Manufacturing Co. has been awarded a five-year contract from Tesla Motors Inc. to provide multiple stamped parts and assemblies to be used in Tesla’s Model S sedan, a leading-edge electric vehicle with range of up to 300 miles on a single charge.
The initial contract with Palo Alto, Calif.-based Tesla Motors is expected to generate $500,000 in annual revenue for Res Manufacturing. Production is expected to begin in early 2012./b> [emphasis mine] The platform is scheduled to run through 2016.
If production of stamped body parts and assemblies will, in fact, begin in "early 2012" that's a very good sign for an on-time delivery of the model S. If you run across any other hints that will help us understand the status of the production schedule, post them here.
Might I suggest everyone post at http://www.teslamotors.com/forum/forums/projected-delivery-dates
instead of starting a new/dup thread …thanks.
@joefiorelli: Sorry. I didn't mean to dupe your thread. My intent was to create a slightly different thread that provides background information that might support when the production date might actually occur. In any event, posts at "projected-delivery-dates" will work just as well.
