In person new spoiler reactions?

I'm guessing some of us have begun taking delivery of MS's with the new spoiler. If you have the new spoiler, how do you like it? Would you get it again?

I checked off the box, but I'm not taking delivery until November, so I still have time to strike it from my order.

Vielen Dank!

I had my car for about 3 months without the spoiler, and really like having the spoiler now. It doesn't stand out much, but I think it looks pretty slick.

Hmmm, I guess I have the original spoiler...not the new one. I haven't seen the new one.

Just got the new one installed at the new Burlingame service center yesterday. My wife was reluctant, we'll see if she comes around. I think it looks great, though after nine months ownership w/o, it definitely gives it a bit of a different look.

Not had a chance to do any fast freeway driving yet, so I can't speak to "slightly" extra downforce at higher speeds.

So much better than the originals....saw them today in Dania Beach

@NKYTA

Can you post a picture? I am in your boat, been waiting for ~6 months for the spoiler but the wife is reluctant.

I'd be very surprised if the difference is detectable.

Just saw the old and new. The old is a shiny, polished carbon fiber and the new is virtually the same thing except a completely matte finish. Not sure which I liked better, but all they had was the new ones so I bought that one. Will look good on my grey car with grey wheels.

My car is arriving tomorrow at 1pm, I will post a photo of the new spoiler if I get a chance!

Schlermie - I actually like the old one very much, it's subtle (not like the shoping cart handles on a lot of tuner cars)

NKYTA - Nice, I'd love to see some pics when you get a chance!

Brian - Yeah... looking at the specs, the effect probably wouldn't be noticable at the speeds I drive. Mostly, I like the way it looks, and I figure it's nice extra protection from random bits of shrapnel falling from the sky.

Shawns - that's perfect for me, I'm planning on having the car wrapped with a matte paint protector. I would think the new spoiler will look great with the grey 21's!

Amped - congrats! Been following your delivery schedule with envy. Would appreciate multiple angles if you have the time!(since I'm sure you have mad realtor photg skillz :)

Just got mine installed. Really like it. Beefs up the back for sure.

Sorry bad picks, it's dark..

trying again...

Sweet

Very nice!

I like that

Thanks. I really like it!

AmpedRealtor congrats!! Something tells me you won't be sleeping tonight! :)

@shawns - Very nice, thanks for posting. Is that matte finish? It looks kind of glossy in the picture.

@AmpedRealtor - congrats, your life will never be the same again once you get the car. Its like having a child, it changes your life forever!!! LOL

Yes matte. It does look glossy in the pic. I'm a terrible photographer sorry!

@AmpedRealtor are you still awake? Tomorrow will rock your socks off.

Shawns - that looks awesome with the grey on grey! Definitely sticking with it. Thanks for posting the pics!

What determines if I get the "old" or "new" spoiler?

I confirmed my order July 31 and it is schedeuled for delivery on 9/10.

Thanks NoMoDinos.

teslamonkey - service center yesterday said the old ones haven't been offered for a while. So I'm going to guess you'll get one on the new ones. But I guess you never know for sure!

In another thread, someone posted an email reply from Tesla engineering about the details of the resultant forces for the new/old(?) spoiler. Their conclusion was that it had little to no affect at slower speeds, but at higher speeds without the spoiler there was actually lift and that the spoiler eliminated the lift, but really didn't provide any additional down force. I'll have to find the post and paste in in here later. Interesting at the least. IMHO, the new spoiler looks great at the least.

I read on the Tesla site that the new spoiler produces 77% more downforce. I believe the redesign was related to creating more downforce. The new matt finish version is more pronounced then the original gloss version.

Carbon Fiber Spoiler
"Improve high speed stability by adding the carbon fiber spoiler to your trunk lid. Made from lightweight, cross-woven carbon fibers with a matte epoxy finish, we recently redesigned the spoiler to reduce lift at the car’s rear by 77% at highway speeds, with minimal range impact."
