I am getting my Tesla in two weeks. What is the feedback on the service plan? Do I need to get it? I drive about 5,000 miles a year. Do I get the service plan? If yes which one? Please help. Thanks.
Sean. This has been the source of much debate/consternation. Your warranty is still intact if you do not get the service plan. That relieved many people's fears when that fact was made clear a couple weeks ago.
There is a discount for the service if you pay for it up front. Service every 12months or 12K miles.
You are a low mileage user. Many of the low mileage users seem to be going the 'pay as you go route' from what I can tell.
Personally, I decided to go prepaid as I calculate I will be putting 10-12K miles on per year. I also went with Ranger service as I do not live that close to the service facility.

I thought I was going to continue to only drive less than 6000 miles a year until I got the car. I already have over 3000 miles on it since the end of Jan. I decided to get the service plan even tho it is not required because I feel less stress having the car looked at once a year and the service plan makes that cheaper.
If you are truly only going to drive 5000 miles a year you could probably just pay as you go and get the car checked every 1.5 to 2 years..... but you might be surprised how much you will like driving it.
Technically you never have to get it serviced from what I understand.

I would get maintenance plan. I am 300 miles from nearest service center. And with out any being planned closer I am going with ranger service. I did have the 3 kW charger go out in first 2 months. Was fixed quickly. Trickle charger worked and did not miss level 2 charging.
I assume if something breaks (many little things needed fixing based on forums?) then I would have to bring to service center. I want the ranger service if anything
I bought 4 year service plan even though very happy with car and have had few problems since taking delivery 12/14 (6800 miles so far).
Reason---new car company, new technology and 1st year of production. Odds are there will be issues as I rack up the miles.
I got 4+4 ranger plan. I live 120 miles from nearest SC. I am traditionally a 10-12K per year driver, but put 2000 miles on the MS in the first month; settled down a little since. IMO good reasons to go either way, but I sacrificed maybe some economy for peace of mind and a hope that service plan owners might have some advantage with hardware additions in the future.
I'm confused by what the service plan actually provides. Below is the list of services on the web site. The services agreement only seems to address the first two. Are the others provided whether or not one has the plan?

bill I was confused about that too and still am. The actually text of the service plan does not indicate you even get replacement of wear parts unless you make one of the four inspection appointments.
Still I am happy with the cost just for a once a year inspection.
