If people drop or downgrade, the slot comes free. I have heard of someone in the last month or two going to the waiting list, then immediatly moving to a Sig reservation. If you've got the funds, go for it. Pretty sure if you waitlist and never get one, you won't loose your P slot. Best to call your rep. Tesla wants to sell out of the Sigs, so if it can happen, they will make it happen for you.

Then Tesla would be willing to build you a Signature. No one else has ever lost their reg slot after upgrading to Signature reservation. I don't think you have anything to lose

I asked specifically about this, if I drop my option for the Sig, I go back in line with the same initial Production number!

And the added deposit isn't required unless/until you actually get a slot.

I was told by a Tesla rep at a beta exhibit in Princeton last year that if I upgraded to a Sig and changed my mind, I would not lose my P slot. I followed up with a call to headquarters to place my upgrade order and was emphatically told that the rep was wrong. If I upgraded to a sig and later changed my mind I would go to the back of the P pack for a new reservation. That killed the upgrade for me. I'm P#1117 and I guess I'll just stay here.

Since you wouldn't have to face that choice until such time as a slot actually opened for you, why not wait until then to decide whether to finalize a Sig reservation? Since they will all be delivered by this fall, it's not like you'd be cutting off your options.

I don't understand your thinking.

If you can come up with 35k, how hard can it be to place 40k for an additional reservation, i.e., keep both spots and cancel one when the time has come?

Thanks guys. I'll call headquarters and discuss my current options again with them. I must confess though that after watching all the early feedback from test drives to date that I might just be better off waiting for my current P#1117 delivery. Since I'm already planning on ordering a Performance version with all options, I'm not sure I see much advantage to the Signature version other than access to the nice Red color. My guess is that the delivery timeframe between any Sig slot I might now get wouldn't be that much different from my current P slot, plus the little delay might give them a bit more time to fix some issues that have surfaced with early deliveries.

Yes, I'd guess less than a month difference.

But if you've already turned down the Sig slot, it's probably been offered to someone else.

I was toldby TESLA that I would not loose my P slot if I upgraded to Signature.... So I have! Canadaian P252 => S146!

Currie, same for me, they confirm in written that upgrading to Sig will still allow me to get back to my P slot.
So I have Canadian P10 => S 5

However due to the color choise, I may come back to my P10 position.
