Aston Martin Rapide S, NY Times Review

Check out the NY Times review of the new 2014 Aston Martin Rapide S: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/05/automobiles/autoreviews/rapide-s-hooli...

This makes the Model S look great! It is more than twice the price of a fully loaded P85, 550 hp V-12, 13 miles per gallon (!!!), 0-60 in a whopping 4.7 seconds! And, it is about 200 pounds lighter than the Model S!

And, the NY Times review of this car is very positive, but with no comparison to the Model S. The only comparisons are brief mentions of the Porche Panamera and the MMW M5. And no, the review is not written by John Broder!

I recently saw a TV show where the reviewer (professional driver), took the Rapide, Lamborghini Aventador, and a Ferrari 458 Italia on a road test. He first tested the Aston Martin, and said it was the most refined and confortable car of the group, however, it's performance was not nearly what he had hoped. He said the Aventador was a beast, howwever, not nearly as confortable, or safe for daily driving. He was blown away by the 458 Italia, and said it was the best of all, and handled like a TRUE race car.

Thus, I get the feeling that the Rapide is just a beautiful / confortable exotic sport car, for the refined gentlman who doesn't really care to go very fast.

The mouth looks too big.

I can't even look at these "old-fashioned" cars anymore. Just look at the interior - all the buttons, the living room look - it feels so crowded, almost claustrophobic.

The Model S has spoiled me and my wife. There is no way we would ever go back to that type of over burdened Lazy-Boy on wheels.

The Aston Martin Rapide S is truly a fantastic car, no doubt. That the performance of the Tesla compared to the AM is very impressive indeed.
I just love the fact that I would have to pay about US$ 400 000 to get the Aston Martin in Norway....and that is not total, but in ADDITION to what I am paying for a Tesla S, P+
An Aston Martin Rapide S is priced at more than 500k$ in Norway!!
Laughing all the way to the bank!!
Good luck selling Aston Martin when we now have the option to by Tesla.:-)

Took a road trip in a Rapide for several days. Superb car, and gorgeous.

Price difference notwithstanding, the Model S is better.

Here we have the Jaguar XJ, the Audi A7, the Aston Martin Rapide and our very own Model S. I know which I prefer...

We saw two Aston Martin's outside Santana row the other week - I much prefer the handles on my S!

The Rapide is a beautiful automobile. The interior is unreal. And I would absolutely trade my MS for it... for a day or two. But if I were given the option to trade my MS for it for 3 years, and at the end trade back, I wouldn't do it. I can't think of a car out there that I would trade for if you were forced to use that car, and only that car, for the whole time.

Both the Rapide and the A7 look borderline ugly to me. Model S looks the most beautifully proportioned.

If I had unlimited founds I would by the Aston or the XJ, having previously owned one Aston Martin and 11 Jaguars, I love both brands. However; there is a huuuuge price difference in Norway, which makes the MS the best buy. The BEST car I still feel is the Jaguar XJ though.

Let's wait and see. Once we get our cars I suspect we will be spellbound by the MS.
Money wise it is all a no-brainer.

This article makes my S look like everything the Aston is not (other than similarities in appearance).

..a tenor trill that can be felt as a vibration at the base of your skull? Yikes.

Thank you, Tesla, for making my dream car.

They all kind of resemble the Kia Optima

I do like that the Aston comes with a badge that shows who was responsible for the final vehicle inspection. Tesla should do the same, especially given the number of ridiculous complaints about bad body panel alignments, etc.
