I just discovered my S has door pockets! Doh!

After 9 months with my car, I finally discovered on a road trip this weekend that my car has pockets in the door! Not only that, it has FOUR pockets, one for each door, up near where the door handles would be.

Sure, they're small, but they're good for: dog leashes, sunglasses, spare change in a small medicine bottle, etc.

Somehow or other, I've missed their existence 'til now. Has anyone else had this experience?

Richard

DOH!

I've had my car for 9 months too and I didn't know that there is a pocket in the front of the seat until recently.

I just went out to the garage to seek out the pockets that you speak of but I didn't find them.

Got pics?

What pockets? must be a new feature but definitely not software upgradeable. =)

I have an update indicator on my car right now. I noticed it when I went to look for the pockets.

It must be the new pocket feature!

I have been using those for months to store small change etc. I assume you are referring to the built in handles that you grab to close the door; where there is a nice pocket to store small items.

Are you guys toying with me?

I just went into the garage and checked again.

Some of the early Signatures didn't have a cubby under the display but mine has one. Maybe my car came without the elusive pockets.

Do you have a VIN earlier than 1000?

Captan_Zap

Sit in your car and grab the handle to close the door; then feel in the hole where your hand is. You can store small things there. Thats what I think the OP is referring to.

@Captain_Zap

I can't find any "pocket in the front of the seat." Would you have a picture please?

Here's one of 4 pockets for 4 doors:

I looked again and felt everything. The door pull is like an empty trough on my car.

I suppose someone could put something in there but, by the way it was described, it sounded like something more. Maybe something similar to my undiscovered front seat pocket?

OK. Now I understand what they are referring to.
They can call off the 5150 for me now.

Sorry to have missed this thread 'til now, but I read it to my wife, who was rolling on the floor laughing.

Yes, Captain_Zap, there ARE pockets, as mdemetri said. And don't feel bad; it took me nine months to figure it out, and then only when my wife said "yeah, i put the dog leash in the pocket," and I said "WHAT POCKET?"

Note that the "pockets" have bumpy rubber floors, meaning their use as pockets was intended.

Somewhere, Elon is laughing his ass off at us.

@ rzitrin@ccplaw.com - PURE GENIUS!

I have been keeping my spare change there since my first trip thru a drive thru. Works for my wallet on longer drives.

Nice thing about reading this site off and on is finding things about Model S should have known. Seven months and did not realize the door pulls had rubber type bottom where can store loose change etc. Good to know, thanks.

That's what my wife uses for the oh sh!t handle.

I don't see how you could miss it - don't you put your hand in them whenever you open or close the door? I put my wallet inside.

Yep. It took 3 trips to the garage around midnight last night to figure out that you were talking about the door pull. I kept feeling around inside there thinking that there would be elastic pouches that I missed that would keep things from shifting around the the trough. I also felt around for hidden leather pockets on the doors.

Yes, the rubberized bottom of the "pocket" was a thoughtful touch. Although, the "pocket" is probably most oft used as a
"hang on, honey!" handle for passengers.

OK, now we "have found" the seat pocket. Next perhaps some genius will "discover" the hidden coat hanger. MS is the treasure box indeed. Like rzitrin said, Elon must be LOL at us somewhere.

Looking for more pockets, I just found one in the front of the driver's seat. Interesting.

I found one in my pants. I keep my wallet there!

ed;
Leather seats only. "Kangaroo pouch".

Coat hanger?!?

Unfortunately, my daughters discovered this. Well before I did.

The only suggestion that makes sense so far to me is a nylon loop over the pano bar, and hook the hanger on that.

No pano roof, no place for a loop or hook.....

It's amazing what can be done with a cordless drill.

Is there a picture of the kangaroo seat pockets that you guys are talking about? 6 months and I still don't know.

I think they're with leather only. Just slide your hand down in front of the driver's seat, and you'll feel a little kangaroo pocket. I've got a map in there. Why, given the GPS, I don't really know....

I didn't discover the front driver seat kangaroo pocket for 5 months. Ours is a sig- perhaps it is not in all interiors? Once you find it is pretty obvious- not very big, but functional. Basically, sit down and look between your legs, on front of bottom seat.

I know why there is a need for a map pocket there.

I went for an exploratory cruise in the foothills this weekend and ended up without cellular service for about 20 minutes. We had to use the position of the sun to make a decision regarding one intersection.

But CapZap, ya gotta put the RIGHT map in there....
