I am considering a Model S for use in Mexico City.
Does anyone know of plans to start sales in Mexico?
In the metropolitan area of Mexico City there are said to be 10 million cars, and a huge luxury car market.
It says in the FAQ section that Tesla does not support the export of cars to other countries.
Is there a way around this?
I know folks who drive their cars from the US and even Canada deep into Mexico. My pops lives in Lake Chappalla(sp?) and his neighbors drive from Canada to there.
Tesla model S warranty only covers cars driven in Canada and USA.

Not true. Visits are covered; only "extended stays" are not.
I believe the warranty states specifically that driving or even transporting the car outside Canada or the US voids the warranty. I know of no other car company that has such a provision.
@BrianH - Do you have a reference that only "extended stays" are not covered?
Can't find the link, despite Volkerize.com, but the question was discussed at length, and a response from Tesla clarified that it was dependent on the legislation of the "host" country re insurance, etc., requirements. Phone TM again for clarification, if you want.
OK, the link was on TMC:
