I purposely made my post subject nebulous because I want people to read this, and I apologize in advance if the acronym offends anyone.

I'm not a young guy and have owned lots of very nice cars; not exotics, but several new BMW 5's and and an X5 currently. They were extremely nice cars with superb design and engineering. However, I got my S today and I can't put into words how I feel about this car. I'm continually shaking my head in disbelief.

WTF? A 4500 lb vehicle that rides like a Bentley, handles like a BMW, and is absolutely Wicked fast? I have a 60 kWh battery and I'm absolutely convinced I couldn't handle anything more.

WTF? I'm going to drive this thing 200 miles for $6? I can charge it for free at the mall and other places, plus get preferential parking?

WTF? I'm not ever going to go to a gas station again? No more fumes? No more gas spilling onto my car? No waiting?

WTF? I can preheat and cool it remotely with a mobile app (plus more)? I never take the key (fob) out of my pocket? I walk up to and away from the car and it knows what I'm thinking?

I could go on and on.

I'd like to thank the Sig owners and those who took delivery in 2012, as your growing pains have made my car better and of higher quality. If you visit this forum and are undecided about your purchase, I would wager that the "problems" with the Model S are overly represented here, because those people are trying to find information and inform TM. The quality of my car was perfect - Pearl White, 60 kWh, 19" Wheels, Gray Leather, Obeche Matte, Air Suspension, Studio Sound, Tech, Body Colored Roof.

Off to do some Tesla'n. Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the "Tesla Grin"

Got Amped - WTF? Welocome The Future!

Awesome and congrats. I just sat in line at Costco for ten minutes waiting to get gas. For the last time! I can't wait to join you! It's down to hours now.

Awesome! Cant wait to get mine thats in production. Congrats

I've had my car since Sunday and I am still going thru this every day.

Let this be a warning that I think the WTF doesn't end any time soon.

Welcome to the proud list of Model S owners. So... no more posts from Get Amped Soon! The page of history turns.

It is a sophisticated performance sports car disguised as sedan.

Still WTFing after almost 3 months and several firmware updates. Some magical things happen after the firmware updates. It is like Christmas all over again.

You have unofficially changed WTF to mean Wow Tesla Feel.

thanks! so excited. 2 or 3 weeks to go. feel like a kid on christmas eve.

So I'm curious, all the people here talking about the perma-grin and WTF, etc., is this your first EV? I went through the same thing when I got my LEAF. Am I really going to get it all over again with the Tesla or will I be let down as more of the same? I doubt it. ;-)

I just got my 60 kwh model s a couple days ago and it is great. Biggest reaction was from my 17 year old daughter. She couldn't stop giggling on her first ride.

Apparently with her friends I am now a 'cool dad.'

GotAmpedToday has got that Tesla grin, and he's got it bad! :-)

@geek EV, you must be kidding (I know you are) to put Leaf and Model S at the same level! You are going to feel completely different with this car. There are many here who also own Leafs or is it Leaves? But sorry, no matter how cool the Leaf might have been, it is kinds ugly, the Model S on the other hand, is gorgeous and lots more. :)

Each and every proud MS owners can tell a story about the excitement and joy after driving this amazing automobile. That is why we have as a matter of fact formed a unique proud Tesla owners community. Welcome to the MS owners community!

@Got Amped Today, congrads!

I got my car about 10 days and the grin hasn't worn off yet. Just today I got into the elevator at work and ran into a few guys I haven't seen in a while. They asked me what's new. I said I got an electric car (believe it or not, not everyone has heard of TM, so I usually start with that) But these guys are techies, and said, "the leaf?". When I said no, a Tesla, they said "For real? It's in the parking lot now? We're all riding this elevator right back down to check it out." And of course we did.

@portia - Oh, I know that. What I meant was that it's possible that a good portion of that "oh wow" feeling is the transition from an ICE to an EV. I've already made that transition. Is the Model S that much better than a LEAF? Yes, I'm sure it is. That's not what I meant. Bah, that didn't translate well written down. :-)

I commute 8 miles out of Boston every night to my home. I'm usually in stop and go traffic. 5 or 6 times a week I have attractive women (and a few men) leaning out of their cars taking pictures of me with their phone..... okay not me, my car. I smile, try to remain motionless to improve the picture, and then inevitably roll down the window to take questions. Sometimes I'm on the bluetooth phone and have to excuse myself to the caller in order to smile and turn my head for the pictures. I also feel the need to keep my car washed more frequently for these photo ops. Two people have called it a "supercar" and I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a little like Clark Kent for a split second. It's a bizarre experience to own and drive one of these elegant machines, but I highly recommend it to everyone who wants more joy in their life. I always arrive smiling.

Yes, first EV, and that brings up a good point. I'm not a car snob but I wouldn't drive a LEAF if you gave it to me. My favorite car prior to my S was a brand new BMW 535i - fast, smooth, comfortable and good-looking (ok I sound like a car snob). I though EV's were small, ugly and slow.

Well they ain't any more.

What mall do u charge at for free?

So, d'all think Leaf giving up on BEVs will boost or reduce Tesla demand? Did Tesla's lead intimindate them, or did the failure to sell big discourage them?

It looks like no one but TM has an EV the public really wants!

Edit; I meant Nissan, of course, Leaf-maker.

There's an interesting comparison here. With a few hundred mil, with both SpaceX and TM, Musk seems to be able to produce superior product at a fraction of the price of (competitive) competition, which falls away as the client base begins to recognize value per dollar. With SpaceX, e.g., even the Chinese gov't acknowledges its costs and prices are better. Also, with both, the firms skimmed narrowly by do-or-die tests, but now seem to be out of the Valley of Death (notwithstanding JP and nn etc. insisting only early adopter fanatics are buying). Etc.

I see a pattern.

Edit: its (SpaceX's) costs and prices are better.

@Brian H - The press has it all wrong. Nissan is not giving up on BEVs. Just because they're planning on more hybrids doesn't mean no BEV. Another way to look at it is they're gradually pushing their gas cars in the BEV direction.

@Amped - Ugly is, of course, subjective. Personally I find the LEAF kinda funky cool. Nor is it slow - 94mph is more than enough to get in trouble with. And 0-60 in 10 seconds isn't half bad for an "econo box" type car. It's no sports car and no Tesla, to be sure, but it's a darn respectable car and a lot of fun to drive. But I *am* looking forward to my MS.

I drove a Leaf for the first time after 1.5 months with my MS. You definitely don't want this experience.

My WTF moment came when my wife told me this morning that I was right about getting this wonderful ride. She was hesitant and somewhat reluctant to make the commitment but now that she has driven the MS she has that SEG (shit eating grin) that we all feel when behind the wheel.

I haven't had this much fun since I started to ride motorcycles again in 2001.

There's a limit to how long even a Nissan can push sub-break-even cars. Which is why Elon insists on gross margins of 25-30%.

Congratulations, Get Amped Today! It's so exciting to hear those that have been contributing to this forum for so long finally get their cars.

I had high expectations when I got my S, and they've been exceeded.

Congrats, GAT! As a Sig Guy, you're welcome but I've had the Tesla Grin since October.

And I had a RAV4 EV for a couple of months and loved it, but that grin is nowhere like the Tesla Grin.

WTF = Wow! Tesla Flies!
