How do I apply?

What are the eligibility requirements to apply for an internship or co-op?
You must be a current student in good academic standing in a relevant program actively working toward your undergraduate or advanced degree.

What time of the year do you hire interns and co-ops?
We hire year-round for Fall, Spring, and Summer work terms. We offer flexible 3-5-8 month terms based on our hiring needs and academic calendaring.
What do interns and co-ops work on?
Interns and co-ops work on a variety of projects to advance the overall goals of Tesla Motors. Our recruitment process aims to match students with teams and projects that best fit their area of interest. Assignments range based on the specific hiring team and current need, but most often include critical path projects and hands-on involvement. Our interns and co-ops are expected to perform at the same caliber of excellence as any other employee.
Does the Intern and Co-Op Program offer mentorship?
One of the major perks is getting to work with the world’s top engineering teams. Interns and co-ops are paired with on-team mentors to aid in your overall project guidance and performance. We invest in your training and development and strive to provide the necessary resources to help you be successful.
What degree programs do you hire from?
Preferred backgrounds include, but are not limited to: Automotive Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronics, and Robotics. We are however, always on the lookout for bright and motivated students regardless of one’s degree program.
Do you have non-technical opportunities for students and new college grads?
Although we generally offer fewer non-technical roles, there are still opportunities out there for current students and new graduates. Please visit our jobsite to find a match.
Do intern and co-ops get hired full time?
We have many students who return to Tesla upon completion of their internship or co-op into permanent roles. We consider interns and co-ops for permanent career roles based on the individuals demonstrated performance and the company’s hiring needs.
