I understand you are busy with the Model S, but saying you're going to do something and then not doing it makes you look disorganized and unreliable.

I have to say I am disappointed by this as well. It's not the biggest thing in the world, but Tesla has a grand plan, and needs to get lots of people on its bandwagon to be successful.

The way that you start doing that is by doing what you say you are going to do. If you don't do the simple things, some people will start to doubt you can do the hard ones.

I hope the next year doesn't turn out like the last year for Fisker reservation holders.

I have posted this before, but I want to emphasize once again that I am as impatiently waiting for that blog post as you are -- but I don't think a little delay actually hurts anything. 18 months to go is plenty of time for interesting blog posts. Yes, it was announced for May, so what? It's a blog post, not the release of a car or anything. You seem to be more "German" thinking than I am!

I like to see it this way: Since Franz is trying hard to provide satisfying answers to all of the questions in that thread, it may take a bit longer than expected... One thing is for sure: The longer the wait, the greater the expectations with regard to the detail and substance of the answers.

Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to say that this is a great travesty or anything. This was a highly anticipated blog post however. This one would have been an easy win for the company.

I look at the Fisker boards, and those people are frustrated. I just hope that Tesla bears this in mind and doesn't just rely on us enthusiasts to keep the faith alone.

One could theorize about all sorts of excuses, but a well run business anticipates problems instead of reacting to them. It also has a well laid plan that tracks tasks and assigns resources to ensure they are completed on schedule. This is what mainly concerns me. If the process by which tasks are completed at Tesla fails to execute on a simple blog post, is it an indicator of a more fundamental problem? I don't know for sure, but it's not a positive indicator.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that they are going out of their way to satisfy the curiosity of us "enthusiasts". It's very much appreciated. In and of itself the blog post means nothing. I would just prefer to see consistent execution on their commitments in general, since so much is riding on them doing so.

To Volker, yes I am very "German" in my thinking. I guess that's the result of being German. Being an engineer doesn't help either ;)

I expect the blog has been written and is now being vetted by multiple parties then finally vetted by legal which can take a long time in the USA.

To be honest everyone, with the holiday this past week in America and that it is only the 3rd day of the new month I do not see the huge issue. If by end of next week we do not hear a peep, then I will become a bit more frustrated.

I'm of the thought that the forum bugs are what's holding up the posting of the blog. I mean, if the forum falls over after the blog is posted, it doesn't help Tesla very much.

This is a reasonable explanation, but I don't know why someone wouldn't get a staffer to post a message to let us know that they didn't forget about it.

When you are talking about service or building a brand you never want to drop the ball on the simple stuff.

True...but when's the last time a car company posted blogs about the development process of a car at all? None that I know of (although I admit that I haven't researched it at all).

That's a big paradigm shift in its own right.

I agree completely Todd, but pulling of a paradigm switch takes better execution than maintaining the status quo does.

On a lot of the tech blogs, guys are already calling the head of Fisker a con artist, even though he has multiple high level successes in his career and is close to actually delivering his car.

You have to manage customer relationships all the way or you will gain detractors. There are plenty of them already in the traditional ICE world. Tesla doesn't need to help create more.

Again, I am not saying that they shouldn't have delays, but they sure as hell shouldn't fumble something as simple as this. Even if the Q&A isn't ready, they should say so, and promise a new date that they will hit.

I am hoping that the delay is because they are busy trying to increase the underclearance and find a location for the front license plate bracket, so that they can give us GOOD answers rather than "we're working on it" answers. :-)

They should still send someone out to announce how long the Q&A will be delayed for, however. That's important. People *always* tolerate delay better if it's announced. (This is proven pscyhology, and it is in fact the reason behind OneBusAway and countdown clocks in subway stations).

It is entirely possible the delay is related to the recent secondary stock offering. Such offerings can be tainted by unexpected or undisclosed publicity - such as occurred (if memory serves) with Google and Playboy magazine. So we may have to wait until syndicate breaks - perhaps thirty days after June 3 when they priced the offering of stock. But maybe sooner - one can hope :-)

I have a feeling there are multiple factors involved, probably a bit of what everyone is stating. I do agree some notification of delay would have been nice, but if they answer the questions a bit more thoroughly this time even if they are late, I'd be rather content.

at this point, I don't think you can say any longer that the delay is due to anything other than incompetence or overreaching. However, what really annoys people is not the delay, but the lack of a mea culpa by the person(s) responsible. In my business we have a saying - "good news can wait, but bad news better travel fast." - it's not that we want to jump up and down while yelling at the bearer of bad news, it's just that delay in responding to a problem limits the number of solutions - and I would rather come up with a solution than have one imposed on me.

Bottom line, the person(s) responsible for this f*** up should post an apology and a realistic date and scope of response, if possible. That would probably create relief. If not, they should explain why not, and if the response is reasonable - all will go back to sleep.
