I think the Model S should be able to convert beach sand into pure energy and use it for fuel, since lots of other cars in this class can do that. Another deal breaker.

@mrspaghet - TM was going to do the sand-to-energy thing, but it would have required an opening to pour the sand into and FvH said it would spoil the aesthetic. They decided to go with the old school (1828) "electricity" (I think that is what they are calling it)

I think that's a mistake and there will be a huge outcry over it. I use sand energy conversion at my house and I haven't found anything more cost effective. Not sure what the subsidies are for that though.

I bet Romney supports sand-energy-conversion.

It only works with pounded sand. Every grain a battery. Have you been making a lot of it?
