Want to move up your delivery?

I ordered a beautiful, fully loaded Model S and am #202. It is black and one step below performance with all the best options.

I would like to get a performance version but the order is already in with delivery expected on Nov-Dec so I cannot change

I am hoping there is someone who would like to switch places in line, someone who has yet put in their final order.

You get your car sooner and I get to upgrade to a performance version.

I would, but my reservation is not til 11,000

Sent you email.

I sent one as well

Hm, are you sure you can't upgrade? Double-check that with Tesla.

Yes, I was told that depending on the timing of my actual production slot, I could still possibly switch my (already finalized) order from 85kWh to P85 (and I also have Nov-Dec delivery estimate).

Is anyone else interested in moving up? My P935 is ready to build (got the email over a month back) but we have too many unanswered questions from Tesla. I've waited a month and they have only addressed 2 of my 18 questions so if there is anyone out there ready to buy, we can figure something out.

I know there were other threads about swapping spots, but I'm too lazy to look them up. So is this ok with Tesla then?

Just sit on the confirmation; your delivery will "walk" till you get around to it, then ~60 days.

"I know there were other threads about swapping spots, but I'm too lazy to look them up. So is this ok with Tesla then?"

It's not okay with Tesla. If you want to do this, you have to work out a deal with the reservation holder on your own to buy the car immediately upon delivery. Neither of you will be eligible for the federal tax rebate btw.

There have been lots of debate and rumors and contradicting information... As far as I can tell, the latest information has been that you may swap spots with another reservation holder. You may not sell your reservation outright, but you may swap spots, which of course implies the possibility for someone to reserve and swap spots with you, so that finally you can simply cancel your reservation -- which on the bottom line effects to selling your spot. If you really want to know, you should contact Tesla. My information may be wrong or outdated.

I just placed a reservation for a production version 85kwh and would love to move up if somebody is willing to take 12,896?

Drop me a line if interested.

Chris25. I would be interested in switching, provided it's OK with Tesla and wouldn't affect the Federal tax credit. I'm P2667. I've configured a 85Kw performance model with most of the options. Let's chat. Thanks.

@simonsingh

Are you the author Simon Singh?

I am not the author

I spoke to a rep at the Santana Row store and they said flat out its impossible to trade spots with somebody else.

Has anybody actually switched spots with another reservation holder successfully?

Now that signatures are sold out, they should have quarterly drawings or something to move folks in the back of line like me (12,896) up..

@E60

Why should they do that?

No reason. Just wishful thinking on his part

He thinks he delivered Sigs left holes that could be filled. Not how working your way thru a list works, of course.

To keep momentum moving. They have not published any figures but I suspect that people at the end of the list tend to drop out in higher numbers then those at the front. Bad press on production delays could dishearten folks (not me) later in the list.

The other solution is to get production up to 5k/quarter.

@E60

Bad press on production delays could dishearten folks (not me) later in the list.

But not nearly as much as bumping people ahead of them from the back of the line.

1 person semi annually or per quarter wont materially have an impact on deliveries if they are at 5k/quarter.

@E60

Per your own post above, if they're producing at 5k/Q they have no problem anyway. Your suggestion is a bad idea for TM under all circumstances.

E60;
Hard to say. Dropouts, total, to date are about 30%. Recent reservers are unlikely to exceed that.

Correction, closer to 25%.

25% is significant....does that mean if one is 12k in line they are actually #9k?

Hard to say because the 25% we know of so far were all Signature holders and from what the reps told me, they canceled to go P for the more color options.

Not so. There are 17K reservations, of which 4K have cancelled or switched around, leaving 13K "real" reservations.

@Brian H, I admit that I do not follow the numbers closely but how do we know for sure otherwise?

Coming back to the topic of the thread....has anybody actually successfully switched spots with another reservation holder?

The diff between reservation # and corrected count (calibrated as of shareholders' meetings) is 4K, and there aren't that many Sigs. Highest Sig # is about 1350.
