wash

Hi all,
this has been probably answered somewhere on a forum but can't find it.
What kind of car wash do you recommend for the S/It is a white one?

my previous car was washed through soft touch but that leaves some micro scratched and it was a black car.
So not sure I want to use that on my S
Many thanks

Hand wash using tips from Junkman's 2-Bucket technique:

The Model S user guide says no automated car washes except "touchless." Everyone here seems to agree with that. I live in the Northeast where washing by hand is impractical in winter. I found a no rinse wash that can be done in your garage, "Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine", and it works great. I'm sure there are other brands that do the same. (not spam and not a plug - just an owner concerned about washing in the winter.)

Great car care products & advice.

Here's a good article on the "two bucket method"

The essentials being the grit guards, and MF waffle weave drying towels

I bought the grit guards based on the junkman videos, and have to say I'm not convinced they really do anything. I washed my car this past weekend and unless you don't have any foam on your mitt and you don't disturb the water when you put it in there, all the grit/dirt ends up in the foam on top, or gets sloshed off the bottom when you are dunking your mitt. When I went to dump out the water at the end, there really wasn't any grit down under the grit guard. Maybe if my car had been really dirty I would have seen something down there, but so far I'm not impressed.

Excellent car wash product here...neutral PH

Pbfoot-don't use a mitt or sponge. Use a boar's head brush like the one Griot's Garage sells. Very soft bristles never trap grit or dirt.
