Uh-oh. 2 spam threads and one spam comment in the Roadster forum. It's spreading.

Same spammer also replied to couple of threads with spam.

How helpful to point out the obvious to Tesla.

I'm going with 'assuming good intent' and

1) assume the person who usually watches this is either on vacation or on another issue (and if it's the person who fixed my J1772 75amp firmware issue, thank you!!), and,

2) ignore the spam, recognize no one is forcing me to look at spam threads, and move on.

I assume the person watching these does normal 8 hour business day work, and is not responsible of website maintaining/developing, because nothing has been done to prevent spammers for registering in with unintelligent bots.

This is bad for forum. Really bad. Issue that should be brought to attention to the board of directors. Elon et co. An embarrassment to Tesla, and sign of weak quality in software and UI development including that incoming 17" "infotainment" screen. If they can't make something simple in website, how are they going to be able to do much more complex UI for that screen? It also gives a sign that they do not really care about registered users. Bad for reputation.

This needs to be fixed soon. Even removing the entire general forum from sight would be improvement.

Remove it from the site, too. ;) But it's starting to spread to the Roadster forum... maybe better to leave the General open to absorb the pollution.

Rename it to spammer forum and move real threads elsewhere? That could work. Then I wouldn't have urge to peek in to see if there is any new messages.

I'm not saying it's not a problem. It's fair to point it out once. Or twice. But multiple posts saying the same thing repeatedly probably isn't helping. And the post insulting the person (or persons) responsible is probably not helpful, either.

That's all I was saying. I think it's obvious. Go ahead and keep pointing it out, just saying it's not going to change the outcome one bit. And the repeated posts about it start to stray into spam territory. Just my opinion.

Repeated messages are not for whoever does read these. Obviously the one who reads these doesn't have control over website development. They are here to make someone that does have influence over the site to go "Whoa! There's bunch of angry people here, better do something" when that someone bothers to read these.

Tesla did try spam filtering, but that really is not a cure for a disease, it is just fixing some part of the symptoms caused by the disease. Because this forum doesn't allow people to write without registering making that difficult or impossible for bots is a cure. It removes the problem from the source (well, not quite, nuking the persons who ordered the programming of those bots would be removing the problem from the source, but unfortunately assassination is not a option when you can't find the person. Otherwise maybe Elon could convince NASA to nudge some small asteroid to hit those people).

Hi,

I understand Bonnie's common sense point, but the unfortunate fact is that the situation has gotten drastically worse. Now the first four complete pages of postings are inappropriate. Therefore, I have to agree with Tim, the General forum reflects badly on Tesla.

In effect this forum has been rendered useless to Tesla enthusiasts and if Tesla doesn't have the resources to deal effectively with the situation, then they really have no recourse to either restrict it to private messages, or delete it entirely.

Until this is resolved I doubt I'll be visiting the General forum in the future.

Larry

It was ignorable when it was 10 spam threads or so.

There are now 114 new threads, and 99% of them are probably spam.

I, for one, am NOT searching through all that garbage to find the one or two threads that AREN'T spam.

This is unacceptable

I put one up with videos on the RAV4 EV, and I don't think anyone has seen it.

Utterly incompetent or slaggard site management.

You mean other than the one titled "RAV4 EV, "Powered by Tesla"?
If you mean that one, both Timo and I had seen it by 9:00 a.m. (PDT) today.

P.S. But it was only because you'd added a "reply" to your original posting.

Yes, there's one titled "Hi-power nanotube wire", and I just posted another "MultiFerroic conversion of heat to electricity".
There seems to have been another purge, but I just flagged 5 more.

Today on Conservative Radio Talk show, Mark Levin had a guy on from a Fox Show called "The 5", that was condeming Tesla, telling Mark that the cars are too expensive, nobody was buying them, and that Tesla is subsidised by the taxpayer funds the Federal Government gave. I live in Napa California. I know of at least 3 Tesla owners here in town. Someone needs to call the Mark Levin Show and tell him how wrong the information this guy gave him is, how many Tesla's have been sold and the demographic that is buying them, and the merits of owning one. Notice they didn't give any crap about anyone that owns a Ferrari, Mazerratti, Lexas, Caddy, or other luxury cars that the majority of American's can't afford either. Please call the Mark Levin show and set this straight. I have been banned from Mark Levin's talk show and web sites, or I'd do it myself..Thank you Ed Rapp Napa California

Well, that radio show is plain wrong, but not much to worry about: there is a lot of lies flying around in US currently because presidential elections are closing (particularly everything current US government is and has been doing are being tried to make look bad, no matter what it is). Tiny unimportant douchebags can be ignored, and that one falls in that category.

@Webmaster, I had previously seeing five "unread" threads that were nowhere to be seen in Model S forum, now I'm seeing only two. Whatever you did it is working, if you could find the two remaining false ones I would be happy.

And now those remaining two are also gone. Thanks.

Moderator, Can you please eliminate the "Esoteric EV Ramblings" thread created July 1. I inadverdently started a new one after I couldn't find the old one but Timo told me how to find it. Sorry for the inconvenience. Many probably wish you would eliminate both threads. LOL But please leave the original one. Thanks

Just flagged two pagefulls of Kate Moss and Handbags and Adobe and Cyrillic and ....

Get with it, mods. This is BS.

2 suggestions:

1. EDIT button for posts please. Some of us can't speal.

2. More involvement from Tesla! I see a lot of posts where folks are guessing about this detail or that detail regarding Tesla and it's cars. It would be nice to have an actual conversation on the site with folks from Tesla. Why not join in on some of the threads where appropriate? I'm sure the community would appreciate it.

My fave spam so far:
"CHEAP TICKETS TO HELL!
Buy, buy, buy and enjoy!"

I had to check that post out. It really is exactly what you wrote. Didn't click the link in it. Was expecting some religious rant.

Site is for some reason veeeerryyy ssloooowwwww currently. Too many visitors? Too slow network? Too slow DB?

Duplicate was caused by network timeout. You can delete it (and this).

Yes, had about 7 hrs of Timeout failures to connect. Bigger servers and faster connections needed!!

How about Tesla just pays for a Vbulletin forum subscription and use that? Just have a link on the main page to the Vbulletin forum site. This set up is not easy to use at all and plauged with spam. Also hating the no "edit" feature.

The Dates Posting are Wrong here?

Just flagged over 60 spam posts in General.

Say 'Thank you', Tesla.

I think the recent speeding up is caused by removing the spam filter from scanning the messages. I hope they add bot protection in registering procedure instead.
