Does anyone know if/when Tesla will add adaptive cruise control as an option?
If anybody knows, they're not tellin'.
Does anyone know is the parking assist package sensors can be used in an ACC as a next step in the Model S evolution?
volkerize.com is a web site that allows you to search the forums. Adaptive cruise has been discussed in the past, but the new parking sensors opens the possibility that adaptive cruise could be implemented in the future.

Not sure about other cars, but I have an Infiniti and the "intelligent cruise" and the parking sensors are completely different sensors. The cruise uses a LIDAR unit mounted in the bumper and it constantly "sweeps" the lane ahead of you, looking for reflective tail lights.
Honestly, although a neat feature, it has limited usefulness except for long trips. They will always program it to try to keep a "safe" distance from the car in front of you, which usually ends up being an "everyone cut me off" distance on the highway.
Adaptive cruise was tough to give up when I ordered my S. I have it on my BMW 760i and use it every time I drive the car. Makes long distance freeway trips much less tiring.
Adaptive Cruise COntrol is appearantly in a hidden service meny waiting to be activated with future software revision!!
I doubt that the screen you are referring to means that adaptive cruise can be activated via a software update. You cannot make sensors that were not installed appear via software anymore than you could select dual cargers on the list and have a second charger appear or change auapension type on the list and make your air suspension disappear.
What is likely is that that screen means that Tesla is at least considering adding adaptive cruise as an option in the future.
If there is a camera in the front of the car they could add it. Mobileye has adaptive cruse control .
I.e. if the windshield sensor was a camera vs a simple sensor.
Perhaps adaptive cruise control functionality will be part of the mysterious "right under your nose" announcement from Elon later this month?!
