Black Tesla Model S spottet in Munich Germany

I saw several post on facebook with Tesla Model S in front of Bayrischer Hof (a famous Hotel in Munich) here in Munich.

Sadly I havn't been there in person quick enough!

But I can confirm Tesla Model S has landed in Europa. Yeah!

the earliest delivery in Germany is via Athlon-Leasing. No matter, if reserved or not... if yu get in contract with them, You get the car nearly first in the row. I talked to them and sent them my number (which are okay for the last Year). They responded: Sorry, but that is to risky for us. Please lease Your car anywhere else...
so, I'm a little sad now and have to wait till P502

Model S is now officially on display in the Tesla Store, Munich, Germany. I just received an invitation to see the Model S there from Oct 27 through Nov 2.

I wonder if these are production models.

If these are the former test drive cars that were in the US then you will them unrefined compared to production cars.

If someone has a chance, get the entire VIN!

@VB I am really thrilled for you. This means that a Model S is that much closer to coming to a driveway near you. You deserve it.

(And for the record, I think European license plates look better on the front than do our stubby things.)

Er, Brian H before you jump in, I'm talking about license plates. :-)

Tomorrow and the whole next week reservation holders get the chance to see the Model S in the Tesla Store in Munich. Just got the email stating this.

I guess I'll hardly sleep tonight! :-)

Ohms.Law, thank you! I'm in fact thrilled to see that Tesla, while focusing on ramping up in California and delivering to their US customers, has all but forgotten about the "old continent". It's very reassuring to see that obviously they launched a major publicity initiative over here, which in my opinion confirms their commitment to deliver cars to European customers in just a few months... almost weeks, now! ;-)

BTW, the email invitation to the Munich Store unmistakably clarifies that the Model S is on display and test drives or rides are *not* possible. That's understandable, and surely they soon will indeed offer test drives. In the mean time, I'll forgo the 6-hour travel (one way) from Berlin to Munich. I've seen the prototype in Geneva earlier this year, and I'm looking forward to test driving a production model soon! Merely seeing it again is not worth the trip IMO.

@volker Berlin , hope your wait to drive it isn't too long. I have to warn you though. You might think you know the meaning of epiphany...

I saw in the Careers section that Tesla is looking to hire a Communications Director in the Netherlands.

VB;
"I'm in fact thrilled to see that Tesla, while focusing on ramping up in California and delivering to their US customers, has all but forgotten about the "old continent"." You mean "not"?

Being thrilled TM has forgotten you would be strange, almost bizarre!

Don't forget to report the VIN when you see it!

I guess the invites are for Germany only as my e-mail box is empty :-( Can't wait for one to get to the store in Eindhoven (The Netherlands)...

seems to be only for Germany since also my e-mail box is empty
but as far as I have heard all TM Stores will be euipped with a demo modell to look at
but the more important fact is that TM has a EC type approval
and can go on with their schedule to market in Europe

The VIN from one of the test drive cars seem to be:

5YJ5A1DP2CFP01227

I am not 100% sure as the picture in this review is not too clear:

http://www.tv2.no/underholdning/broom/tesla-model-s-dette-er-en-julegave...

I guess that should be:

5YJSA1DP2CFP01227

Don't take the 1227 as a consecutive count; the 1200s are marketing cars.

Brian H, "Tesla has all but forgotten about Europe." Doesn't that mean, Tesla has done everything except forgetting about Europe? That would include not forgetting about Europe, which is in fact what I meant to say.

@Volker - "all but forgotten about" means "to all intents and purposes has forgotten about" It is one of the many, many strange English constructions.

Yes, or "has done everything up to but not quite including 'forgetting about'". A similar expression would be, "Has virtually forgotten about".

Thx for that info. I understood what Volker was trying to explain. And I thought it was obvious that he was correct. Must be a European way of thinking.

@steven.maes - @Volker's English isn't very good. Brian H and I are trying to educate him, but it is a very, very slow process. Volker's brain is full of all the memorized URLs, so he doesn't have much room for language.

Heh. I think it's partly that some English words and expressions seem to closely match Euro ones, but actually have different meanings and usages in native English. So Euro English speakers get used to common shared errors, and think they're correct. My "favorite" example if the word "possibility". It's extended and expanded and abused, replacing many more specific terms, like capability, opportunity, license, etc.

typo: "is the word"

nickjhowe, LOL! You can rest assured that I'm infinitely grateful for your patience, and your understanding. :-D

(One man's gift is the other man's poison... as Ohms.Law kindly reminded me in the other thread!)

The expression is "another man's". "The other man's" would never be used unless speaking of some specific man, already identified.

Brian H, of course you're right and Ohms.Law did not make this mistake. My bad.

@VB (and all the other EU guys)

Here's an info I got from Wido in the TMC forum :

"I got a call from Tesla EU this morning, they wanted to explain what was going on. Since I'm a regular visitor of this forum they called me (He said that!)

Anyway, there was a press embargo until 18:00 yesterday (European time), everybody had to keep their mouths shut, including the people at Tesla.

The press indeed got to ride the Model S and he assured me that test drives for customers will be starting shortly.

I told him that I'm going to be out of the country until December 12th, he'd arrange that I could test driver afterwards!

He didn't tell me when exactly, but I got the feeling we'll be getting the first invitations somewhere half November."

ManuVince, thanks for cross-posting this peek behind the curtain! :-)

LMAO!

Thx ManuVince.
