Cabin noise

Hello. Are there any info regarding target dB noise inside the cabin for the Model S? Being an EV and having been designed with aerodynamics as a priority it should stand a good chance of getting low cabin dB. However, agin being an EV, keeping weight down is critical in order to achieve maximum distance. Will this decrease the amount of noise reducing materials incorporated in the cars body? Will it meet or beat the cabin dB levels from wind and tires of vehicles such as the Mercedes S-class?

Any answer to your question would be pure speculation since no hard specs on your topic have been released. Only the people that actually rode in the preproduction model can give you an opinion. I doubt that anyone that did ride in it carried a decible meter. Believe me when I tell you that we would all like to know the answer to your question.

IIRC that preproduction model was build on some Mercedes frame and had Roadster engine and PEM hidden somewhere. It is not the same frame that actual car will have, so even those people that did drive it can't answer to that question.

I'm pretty sure it will be quieter than any ICE car barring some *really* expensive ones like Maybach.

The answer to that question is about 6 months into the future.

I would greatly enjoy it if the interior cabin was close to being completely silent.

but as it is an EV, you could say that sound proofing will be less to same wight,
but as heating and air condition, uses power it would be preferred to insulate the car
so what impact dos it have on at car that it has been insulated on noise and wight
