Dashboard Clock — New and Improved

Hi guys,

Dashboard Clock, the first dashboard application for the Model S, has been updated with new functionality and improved compatibility with the 4.1 Tesla Software release. With this release, you now have:

o Analog Clock
This handsome clock was the genesis for the whole project. Like the site, the clock is designed to compliment the aesthetics of the model S interior.

o Stock Quotes
Track up to dozens of individual equities or indexes for at-a-glance updates.

o US Weather
A quick check of the weather in any US location is a tap away.

o @TeslaMotors News
Keep you finger on the Tesla community by monitoring the TeslaMotors twitter traffic.

o Be our Guest
Each module is configurable and settings can be preserved without the need to create an account or log into the site. Simply use the favorites feature of your browser and your settings will survive even when you computer restarts.

o New Site
Reflecting the expanded role of the application, the site has a new address: dash.time4tesla.com. Come visit and let us know when you think here or on Twitter at @time4tesla.

Cheers,

Rumbles

All - Yours setting are now truly saved. You'll need to make a new bookmark (aka favorite) because we now provide and unique id for you when you go to dashtime4tesla.com. No logging is required, just favorite the address with the s=xxxxx ending.

@nickjhowe - You are most welcome

@TheAustin - 1) We moved to new site because the twitter handle was taken with the old. 2) You are right. perhaps I should add it as a default as well. 3) I haven't seen the off-by a minute or two issue... others?

@Michael Emrich - Type in the index you interested in into google... you'll see symbol in the resulting page. They typically start with a period.

@kent@spasalon.com - Thank you

@NetworkGuy - agreed... although I'd settle for persistent cookies and location support :)

Hi Rumbles,
I am wondering, what unique id are you using that recognizes the individual browser so that you don't have to sign in again?
Thanks and great job!

Your website froze my tesla web browser. Any suggestions?

@mariab8 - we just assign you a random number that provides a persistent session

@kjin7117 - sorry about your troubles. It is unlikely that a website could hang up you browser. That said, you can restart the whole media screen by holding down the lower steering whelk buttons for about 5 sec...

Cheers,

Rumbles

Thanks for doing this. It is a good idea, but.......

This for sure froze my browser. Couple of weeks of bug free operation on this and other sites but yesterday, after update it froze twice when I tried to change the weather settings. I don't need to know that it is 83 and sunny in Stanford. That's pretty much obvious for the next two months. I want to change the settings to my local zip code and it freezes.

Same for me - was getting started but browser froze when I tried to enter location for weather. Browser OK after reboot but didn't try clock again.

Browser also freezes when trying to edit the stocks (which also seems limited to maybe 6 symbols). As the OP says, a screen reboot unfreezes the browser.

The new software is good, but there is a glitch now working with iPhone on AT&T ... the car no longer recognizes that the call is complete.

Is there a way to roll back?

This happened to me also I assume there is now a glitch in the app

Just installed this clock, looks great but guess what IT DOES NOT WORK. The clock has been frozen since I installed it 4 hrs ago, cannot reset it or reinstall it
Thanks a lot Tesla

Yep. I posted about this the other day. I had to delete this after it kept freezing my entire browser every time I used it. There is obviously a bug in the system. I had to reset the car to get my browser working again.

@enarkay -- I'm not sure any of these issues are Tesla's fault. This app was developed by a fan unconnected with the company who probably underestimated the difficulty of keeping it all up-to-date and functioning.

Hi all.

First my apologies for the troubles with Tesla Time. The problem arose when Tesla updated their browser to eliminate support for input dialogs. Worse, they appear to show the dialog off-screen which then prevents the browser from working properly. I am working on a fix and should have it out in the next few days.

Rumbles

Hi folks. I apologize for the troubles with www.time4tesla.com. The issues has now be fixed.

Thanks for the kinds words and your continued support.

Rumbles

That address shows "no server".

The following link will take you there: http://dash.time4tesla.com

My browser is now frozen after installing the app. How do I get the web to work again?

@AnnK - I am sorry to here of your troubles. As posted above, a recent upgrade to the Tesla software caused the clock website to 'break' the browser. If this happened to you, you'll want to restart the media console by holding down the two spin-wheels on the steering wheel for about 10 seconds.

The website has been fixed to avoid the problem in the future.

Cheers,

Rumbles

@rumbles I'm still having problems getting the weather menu to display anyplace other than Stanford, CA.

I've tried rebooting.

Is it me?

I loaded the web page, and my clock does not update unless I re-load the web page. I'm sure I just don't have a setting set up correctly, because otherwise, a stagnant time, which updates only when you refresh the page, is certainly not very useful. Can anyone point out what I need to change in order to get the clock to update? The second hand does not move when I am in the car, but it moves when I bring up the page on my home computer.

I wonder if this implies that it is sending 3G data packets continuously when using the app correctly. This also seems to be a waste of data bandwidth when not in earshot of a WIFI network. Again, I'm sure I just don't get it. Please clue me in.

Sorry for the double post ...

Thanks Rumbles!!

@dayoreo you are welcome! Enjoy.

This is my preferred clock, so thanks very much! I can't say I like the Roman numerals though.
