Now off to make some choices... P779

#7783. My email came on 10-4. I will finalize this weekend. Likely a 40, white, tan, pano, air suspension, 19", & tech.

Mpottinger - did you get a delivery window? Thanks!

someone posted P7721 a while back.

bump

Anyone get an email with a reservation number bigger than 7783?

bump, btw, I am amazed after not being on the forum for a couple days as to how many additional topics were started. This is really becoming unmanageable. Tesla help! We need a search function or index.

I agree 100%. But not giving up! (I'll likely give up once I have my car... we'll see.)

Use Google to isolate search on tesla's site. For example, enter the following into the google beast:

teslamotors.com solar

Works for me to find specific content.

U can limit the search to the forums: site:www.teslamotors.com/forum/forums

I am still looking to see what the latest reservation number for design is, can anyone add any comments to this end?

bump

Has no one gotten a "Time to Design" email since October 4th?? Highest res# show so far is 7783.

I have not got mine yet, and I’m just under 700 away from 7783.

bump

Haven't gotten mine either (8900ish reservation number).

That being said. I've thrown a dart at the wall and I'm guessing I'll get my e-mail next Monday, November 12th and that my best case delivery date is February 20th and my worse case delivery date is March 22.

I've used some very magical optimistic thinking and made some very crazy assumptions. That being said, the basic math is fairly simple:

13,200 reservations
-2,000 Europe/Canada/Asia reservations
-4500 reservations behind me
=6700th car built. (My alternate math put it at 6000).

If 3250 cars are built this year, then my 6700th car would be the 3450th built next year and would be ready on March 4th.

(Btw, I wrote a very long (and I think funny) post explaining my magical thinking, but then the website failed! Teaches me not to copy my posts before I hit submit.)

I like your magical thinking. Does that mean my P12800's will be ready by June? July?

Since I like to encourage magical thinking, I'm going to say that May is possible! Best case you are ~4000 cars behind me (i.e., no foreign deliveries) and therefore 73 days behind me. If I get my car March 1, you'll get your car by the middle of May.

Even assuming that Tesla delivers 1000 foreign cars out of 2000 order numbers, it only puts you back to very early June.

(Btw, this is a little more disconcerting as an investor, but here's hoping we see another significant uptick in reservations now that deliveries are real, evangelists are out in the wild and the awards keep coming in).

Install Lazarus addon. FF/Chr/Saf. Saves every keystroke, can be saved for as long as you want in Options (I use 54 weeks). Restores lost posts, searchable, etc., etc.

Rallykeeper:

thanks for the magical thinking. I'm gonna keep praying to the Tesla Gods that your predictions are correct. Perhaps, it'll arrive just in time for my birthday in May...

Rallykeeper:

hate to throw cold water on your magical thinking, but Tesla has revised their production numbers for 2012 to 3000 cars. They hope to be up to full production rates within the next month. Full production is about 385 cars per week. If you're number 8900, you'll need 5900 cars to be built in 2013 to get to you. That's about 15 weeks into the year - probably around middle of April for your delivery. Maybe there are a lot of people in front of you that are dropping out and you'll get yours sooner, but I doubt that many are dropping out....

Discussion of predicted delivery dates is off topic for this thread. Consider posting in this thread:

I keep seeing new posts here expecting news about further "Time To Build" notifications.

To stay on topic, I think that we will see Time to Build e-mails again very soon -- the point of my original post.

@Keith72. There are a lot of people dropping out as they start to order. Elon said as such on yesterday's call. In fact, there seem to be about 5000 net cancellations if you try and reconcile total reservation numbers with yesterday's net reservation numbers.

We know that Time to Build e-mails have gotten up to about 7700, that they stopped about a month ago and that Tesla would like to have 90 days notice of a configuration. As a result, we can guess that they'd send the Time to Build email at about 120 days out.

Since production seems to be moving again, cancellations are likely running at about 5000 or so, that would mean Time to Build e-mails should start going out again in the next couple weeks if they really are likely to get to #8000 or so by the end of 2Q. Moreover, they will likely go out in chunks of about 500-1000 reservation numbers at a time.

@rallykeeper - 5000 sounds WAY too high. Both Elon and George said 10-15%. Since there are no more than 20000 reservations currently the absolute worst case is 3000 (20k*.15), but the implication from what George said is that it has been people who've been on the wait list the longest, and so a better guess might be closer to 1,000 or even less. I'm thinking maybe 10% of the people they've contacted, which would be c. 700 (US Sigs + c. 6000 Ps)

Don't forget. There are some deferrals that aren't cancellations.

@nickjhowe. Sorry. I over-simplified. I meant to say that I was guessing that were about 5000 net cancellations and double-counting (e.g., P#s moving from P to Sig, Sigs moving to P, SSL/R etc discrepancies, etc). Also, I'd guess that cancellations are likely weighted to orders that occurred prior to June 2012. In other words, there is a higher percentage of cancellations of P9000.

#10,306 here...
I am interested in white, black, silver or gray and would like to see these cars (not a paint chip) in person before deciding on my final design. I live in Georgia. Any suggestions where I could actually see all of these colors in person??

rterry, I'm in Atlanta. I flew out to Fremont last year for their beta event and saw many of the colors in person there too. Short of making a cross-country trip, I don't think there's much you can do to see the full car colors in person.

You'll have some luck with flying to either DC or Florida for either of their showrooms in those locations. But I would call ahead to see what they offer there currently. They will have a demo car or two, and possibly have some waiting for delivery that you can look at too. They won't have the full selection of colors on a full-size car to look at, but they should have some sizable body sections with colors on display for you to take a look at.

But from what I've seen, they really do a stellar job with paint. The Tesla paint team should be proud! I don't think there's going to be a selection there that you won't like. It's just a matter of which one you'll like the most.

Time to build email came in today.

@renzie.davis -- Congrats! Hopefully I will get mine in this batch, at 9358.

@timdorr, rterry - I am in ATL too, we should get together once we all have our cars.
