Now off to make some choices... P779

I've said it before and I'll say it again. They told me in no uncertain terms that if you reserved by 12/31 you'll have your car by end of summer. Now, interestingly unless there are far more cancellations than we've all assumed, they're planning to build roughly 14k cars in 8 months, which sounds about right!

Reservation #13,549 and got my "Time to Build your Model S" email today!

Reservation #13,805 (will be second Model S in the family) and got my "Time to Build your Model S" email today.

#16,780 - reserved end of December. I can't stay away from these forums, and it seems like things are rolling much faster than we were told. I am looking forward to seeing some of these gems rolling around the Chicago burbs!! We are designed and the spousal unit and I are actually in total agreement :) :)

I just finalized 13,676 performance silver-grey 85kw, pano roof,19" wheels, sound, dual chargers. Very excited and nervous.

@Solution: I'm just ahead of you at #16,743. If they keep up the same rate of allowing reservations to configure/finalize as is evident this week, we'll be able to finalize around Jan 28th! Of course, depending on cancelation rate, finalized options, and especially production rate, who knows what the delivery estimate will be…

Since I'm not part of the Solution, am I part of the precipitate? :)

Reservation #13,743 and got my "Time to Build your Model S" email today. Any idea how long from configure to delivery?

#12,637
I've really been looking forward to commenting on this thread. I made my reservation on October 6th and got my "finalize" button on January 7th. It took me a few days to sit down and make those tough decisions, so I just completed my order and signed my Pre-Delivery MVPA.

Standard 85kWh
19" Wheels
Red
Tan/Obeche Gloss
Pano
Air
Tech
Twin Chargers

I came close to going with Black just to get it here sooner, but given that I had originally expected to wait until August I decided to hold out for the Red. So excited!

#13,085

Finalize email came last week. Family spent this afternoon in the Menlo Park store looking at the colors on real MS. Those paint chips do not do justice to the real colors! The store team helped walk us through the finalize process which provided lots of context like mentioning that we could wait on the HPWC until we get our power checked out.

Standard 85KWh
Green, Tan, Obeche Gloss
19"
Pano
Air
Tech
Twin Chargers
Parcel Shelf

They indicated that my build would get started right away with a Feb-March delivery. Looks like they are trying to get through the 85KWh + Air configs before the 60s, Red & Spring Suspension backlog hits. Must have had people working weekends because the paperwork arrived within a few hours!

Finally good news for 14,000s

# 14,277

Delivery April/May 2013
P85 Red / Black
Everything but twin charger, rear seats and paint armor

#14184 reserved in Nov 19 (for my dad), and got the finalize email and button today!
he is getting a Silver 60kwh with grey leather and tech package. not performance, 19" wheels, paint armor.

looks like they are doing approx a few hundred a day.. which is good.

#14291 got the finalize email today!!! Finally

When you got your finalize button, how much time did you have to respond before losing your place and/or pricing?

One month

Yep! Position #14,295 got the email today! And the cool little website (which I really should have taken a screenshot of) said Feb - Mar delivery!

60 kWh air and supercharging, pano and 19" but no sound or tech, and grey of course. Penfed is the plan along with a factory tour celebration weekend, including a trip to Russian River and a great road trip back down to LA.

Oh and yeah the email says feb 11, which is like a day before they announce q4'12?

When you got your finalize button, how much time did you have to respond before losing your place and/or pricing?

Actually 4 weeks, or 28 days to lock in last years pricing.

Current email text!

As you know, we recently announced new pricing for Model S. This is our first price increase since unveiling Model S in 2009 and it is very important that we implement this in a way that recognizes those, like you, who already have a Model S reservation. Therefore, this price increase will not apply to you as long as you finalize your order within four weeks of receiving this "Invitation to Configure".

You do not need to wait four weeks. Your MyTesla configuration page has now been activated to receive your order. We are filling production slots every day based upon orders received. The sooner we receive your order, the sooner your Model S will be headed your way.

If you choose to configure and finalize your order by February 11, 2013, you will receive current Model S pricing. If you prefer not to configure your Model S at this time, no problem, your reservation will remain intact. However, when you configure your car and finalize your order at a future date it will be under the new pricing and options schedule.

We have designed tools to make it easy to configure your 2013 Motor Trend Car of the Year®. You can design your Model S and finalize your order from anywhere with an internet connection. All you need to do is complete the following steps:

• Finalize your design in MyTesla by clicking the Design button under My Garage.
• Once your Design is set, hit the red Finalize button. (Don't worry this does not lock in your order).
• You will be guided through 4 simple steps to Place your Order.
• Once you hit Place Order, paperwork will be created and emailed to you within one business day.
• When you receive your paperwork via email, click the big red Sign Paperwork button to review your documents.
• Digitally Sign your paperwork through DocuSign.
• If you added a Co-Buyer, they will need to sign paperwork as well (a 2nd email will automatically go to the co-buyer).
• You will then receive a countersigned copy of your paperwork within one business day.
We are always here to help. Throughout the ordering process, our Configuration Team will be your resource for information and to answer any questions you may have. You can reach us at BuildMyModelS@teslamotors.com or 888.771.2505 for further assistance.

Let's get your award winning Model S on the road!

@ir, you stated: Finalize email came last week. Family spent this afternoon in the Menlo Park store looking at the colors on real MS. Those paint chips do not do justice to the real colors!

Like you, the key decision before I finalize is the exterior color. I see you ordered a green S. I'm inclined to the blue, but my son is pushing hard for the green. It might be good but haven't seen one in person so hard to image. How do you describe the green, and what made you go for it? I haven't seen many mentioned in this forum.

@pskirby For us it was also a toss up between Blue & Green. Indoors, both look black unless you are in bright sunlight or look closely. The green is a darker version of what we'd call "Jaguar Green" (as in car not cat).

It was only a tiny margin that tipped the scale;
1) My favorite color is green (wife's is blue and so is her car which we are replacing, but she's taken over my car because baby doesn't fit in hers)
2) We felt the green was more "complex" or had more color shifting effect in that it sometimes looked black, grey or green while the blue looked either black or blue
3) According to the reps, blue was by far the most popular color. While blue was safe, we wanted to push our comfort zone a little and go off the beaten track.

NOTE: The green does NOT come through easily in photos, it looks dark grey on my iPhone. We FaceTimed our friends and since they couldn't see the green well, it didn't help break the tie. The blue photographed better if that makes a difference to you.

IMO... you cannot go wrong with either color. The Tesla designers knew what they were doing when they chose these colors. My wife & I agonized for 1.5+ hours going back and forth between the two cars (green was in the showroom while the blue had been dropped-off outside for service). Even now we're still waffling taking turns advocating both colors.

FWIW... that day at least 3 other families were there trying to pick a color too. All knew their exact config except the color. Seems to happen a lot.

Hope this helps, but rest assured that you will have your "Tesla grin" either way! :)

#14514 finalized (did not get email but saw finalize button)
85 std, red, pano, tech, rear seat, black leather with obeche gloss
Est delivery Apri-May.

#14409. Also no email but now have the Finalize button. It wasn't there @ 10am, now it's 11am and there it is! 85 std, multi-coat red, 21", pano, tech, studio sound, air, tan, lacewood, twin charger, armor. Will finalize in a few days, so no estimated delivery until then. Very excited!!!

BTW mine was with air suspension ... forgot to mention

@desiguy...I wonder if your delivery estimate would be Feb/March if you chose another color.

yes it would have been Feb/march .. but my kids really wanted red (I wanted grey) and I don't mind waiting another couple of months. My kids were a big part of me buying this - they made me feel guilty of polluting the air.. I know it is just an excuse (the car is too attractive too)

P14,582 - no email but Finalize button just showed up! yay. Am going for 60kw - color etc tbd based on wife's input.

(P: 14291) Finalized

Model S performance , 85 kWh, multi-coat red, Gray 21", pano, tech, studio sound, air, black Napa leather/alcantara with red piping, twin charger, Paint armor, HPWC. estimated delivery April-May 2013.

is this correct? it seems there are a lot of multi coat red ordered before me.

Any ideas what's a realistic delivery window?
