She's here - early!

Tess, my Model S, appears to be ready early! That was the quickest gestation ever. Here's the timeline:

  • Configured the car online and put down the deposit on July 2.
  • Test drive on July 3, and I didn't change my mind.
  • Finalized the order and requested it be sent for production that night (July 3).
  • Pickup at Factory on Saturday, July 27.

Total time: 3.5 weeks. Barely enough time to clean the garage and call the electrician!

Wow! Congrats. Don't forget the Model S delivery checklist and enjoy the delivery! It will be a blur so make sure you have someone there to record the event.

I confirmed my order on 6/24 and am currently waiting for the car to actually arrive at my regional SC. My delivery specialist can't seem to determine where my car is right now. While Amazon can give you hourly updates on where a $3 USB cable is in transit, Tesla doesn't know where a $100K car is. Crazy. :-\

My delivery date was supposed to be today. Last week the DS called to apologize about there being some kind of mistake and delivery is sometime in August. He blamed it on production ramp up for Europe. I already signed off on the financing and sent the DS my driver's license and insurance proof. and picked one of the three delivery dates they offered (i.e. today) There's nothing I can do about it but wait. It was a serious yanking of the carpet from under my feet! Sleeping has been difficult :-)

@SevenOfNine - Congrats, It's a perk to pick up from the factory. It shave another week off from cross country delivery like mine. My delivery took five weeks so your timeline sounds right.

OT, Brian H and I have been wondering, are you another Trekkie or the real deal?

@cfOH - Tesla is also waiting for that $3 USB cable. There was a batch of USB cable missing that caused the delay from a Taiwanese manufacturer earlier in the production line.

Congrats SevenOfNine. DId you order the 60kWh, 85kWh Standards or 85kWh Performance? Apparently this makes a difference in delivery time.

Obviously the OP is in it for the performance aspect since they clearly don't go for comfort.

7/9: Congrats!! That's amazingly fast. Hoping my experience will be similar.

Ours was ready in 20 days, June 8 ordered, June 28 delivered!

Ordered/finalized 6/20 and arriving in WY tomorrow!

How many of you waived the 2 weeks after I posted about it two months ago?

@ cfOH - SO funny and true about Amazon. I agree you'd think they would know exactly they were in the process, where the car is, etc. Oh well....

@ LionPowered - Yikes! Sorry to hear about that. I'd rather Tesla give me a conservative estimate and be earlier vs. give me a date and be wrong. I hope you get it soon. I ordered mine on July 15 and they say it's ready to pick up August 23.

This is the first time I've been excited to get a car. Hang in there.

@ earlyretirement -- It's only a couple more weeks so I'll survive, but yeah, I've never been a car fanatic until now :-)

@ Mathew98 -- I'm not sure whether I learned about the option to waive from your posting, but I know I read about it somewhere. It might serve some well, but I couldn't see waiting an extra 2 weeks for no reason! On the other hand it might have given me enough time to think through my choice of suspension option more clearly.

Oh yeah, I totally waived the two week grace period as well. And don't regret it for a second.

I'm on the exact same time line, but on the east coast. On Tuesday I was contacted by the DS and given 8-17 pick up at the SC. Also waived the two weeks. My biggest problem has been getting the HPWC and getting someone to install but the DS has been very helpful. So far very impressed with Tesla's customer service. They have created a whole new way to distribute this "transformational" vehicle and it truly exciting.
