Theoretical problem/liability with Model S P85 Battery Power

IF, and only IF, you fully charge your P85 could this be a theoretical problem. I am trying to find out with my own but it could be a large liability not covered by insurance. If I am fully charged and pull up next to a Prius/Volt/Leaf etc that is fully charged and I accelerate like we all like to do...it is possible that the magnetic field generated will be out of phase with the smaller car and turn it 180 degrees and flip it over on its side similar to two like poles on a pair of magnets. Now, the Model S driver will be at least a quarter mile down the road so he might not even see this happen. It has been a few years since working with Gaussian formulas but just saying…it could happen!

Of course there is a worse probability. The poles are aligned and the Prius/Volt/Leaf etc is caught in the larger magnetic field and dragged at unsafe speeds (for the little car) behind the Tesla like a tin can on an invisible string until the S just repels it.

Just beware and be careful!

*kidding of course* ;)

11,800 miles and not one problem. Making first service appointment today.

I've seen YouTube videos that show Corvettes and M5s being dragged along behind P85s.

I have heard of P85s repelling certain ICE drivers and attracting others...

I couldn't care less of what happens to Prius/Volt/Leaf. My only concern is what would happen to the earth's magnetic field if all 10,000 MS accelerate a the same time. Will it flip the north/south poles or make them spin at high rpm?

The Tesla's magnetic field acts more like an EM pulse with regard to the vehicles around it. More than likely, the Prius/Volt/Leaf will experience a complete loss of power when a Model S is immediately adjacent. This is not unlike the phenomenon of not being able to start your car in the presence of a UFO.

@carlk: you'd all start to levitate and fly!

I don't think the magnetic field would be strong enough to "pull in" another car. But haven't other people said that the Tesla technically has a faraday cage around the motor?

IF you want your day to go a little faster just setup a day when All Model S owners will face their cars West and floor it at the exact same time. Should give the Earth a little extra spin:-)

Might cause toilet bowl flushes to go the wrong way for a few days.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 24, 2013

[Reuters by newswire]—Tesla announced after market close today that their flagship product -the Model S electric car - has suffered its first major setback. The EPA announced today that after extensive testing, they have concluded that drivers of Model S vehicles may suffer serious and acute episodes of time dilation.1 This has left insurance companies and healthcare providers up in arms over Tesla's revolutionary new technology, and recently prompted Sarah Palin to politely decline an invitation to test drive one of the affected vehicles.

The markets had been expecting this news, and most analysts agree that the recent rise in stock value has "baked in" this expected announcement. While the EPA is still in heavy consultations with other regulatory agencies in an attempt to formulate a plan of action, in the meantime Tesla Model S owners run an unusually high risk of looking and feeling younger while the rest of the world melts away.

"This is unprecedented in the history of our country," said the Director Protem of the EPA. "We cannot and will not allow any company within our borders to create a modern vehicle that alters the emotional state of its driver or other occupants. If we could only roll up and light a Model S, we would surely ban it!" The EPA has not returned our requests for comment.

LOL, @AP! +1,000

More timeless truth from Whackopedia.

Just the thought of this left me PMSL.

This makes me think of maybe putting a warning notification on each new TESLA. It should read something like, "DO NOT PEE ON THIS TESLA! IT COULD BE DANGEROUS TO YOUR . . ."

Just to see what would happen, my brother-in-law peed on an electric fence when he was quite young. He only tried that once, however. Apparently he received quite a stiff penalty for a few days.

As far as we're able to ascertain, polarity swap did not seem to result from his experience.

Amped - LOL! I can't believe I haven't seen this thread before, hilarious.
