Turning noise.....

When I turn hard left or right, my Model S makes a clicking noise that is like nothing I have heard with any of my previous vehicles. Has anyone else experienced this? Btw, I have the 19" rims.

thanks,

Super-rapid Stability Control adjustments?

I have not noticed this, but I'm not sure if I have ever tried to turn the car as tight as possible.

I'll try it out, if I can.

In one of my older cars, it used to make a whining noise when you turned the wheel all the way left or right, and it was normal. It was just the way the power steering acted when it was at the limit of its range.

Of course, if you're concerned, call customer service.

Could this be the headlights? I noticed that when turning an extra lamp is illuminated that is angled into the turn. I believe there is a relay noise associated with it when it turns on and off.

I am experiencing a similar noise from my Model S particularly when my wheels are turned hardleft and I reverse. Car makes a grinding clicking sort of sick noise - seems to come from the power steering and not the tire rubbing. Strange. I may just call customer service or ask at the nearby Tesla showroom in Scottsdale on my next visit.

Above is only available to those with owner access.

I just had this fixed today by a Tesla Ranger under warranty. The two bolts that secure the steering rack had to be torqued down. Now, no more clicking while parking and tight turning. It is a known issue by the service people and a quick easy fix.

It is a quick fix-- spent 30 minutes at the service center & it is gone.
