Another hack job, this time by the Wall Street Journal. "I thought these cars were only supposed to be driven in cities." So opinionated, and so uneducated.
The video is, frankly, a total abortion. An out of context quote (conflating the issues with NYT and the Model S with the issues with Top Gear and the Roadster) kicks things off, and it just gets worse from there.
Don't click, don't watch, don't validate, it will only raise your blood pressure and give them ad revenue.
It's that bad.
Read this instead, because it's hilarious.
Wow. That makes The Broder article look like great journalism
I agree...The two people in the WSJ video are SO STUPID, they can't even possibly be accused of an inside hack job...Even that would require more intelligence that they seem to possess. Painful. Spare yourself!
I would have made Archibald Crane's argument had I not viewed the video first. As a Wall St. Journal subscriber I guess that I shouldn't be surprised by the misconstrued arguments that come from the mouths of their editors, and this one is right up there for winning a prize. Holman Jenkins at least came across as someone with a critical mind, but who was the [unnamed] woman editor who was interviewing him? She lacked not only an understanding of the Model S, but she had no understanding of basic economic concepts. We should expect more, but this is the Wall St. Journal. Maybe I should at long last drop my WSJ subscription.
That mashed together quote that was technically valid, but created a lie with just three small dots really took the cake. There ought to be a law.
Yeah, that mashed quote was irresponsible in the extreme. And Jenkins' dismissal of all EVs as urban cars only is 4 years out of date (as long as the Roadster has been around). Jenkins is a reasonably smart journalist, but he should get better informed, as events are passing him by on this point.
The main point of the piece was to bash electric car subsidies. This Tesla forum is a bit of a bubble - a lot of people in the wider world do not like the government distorting free markets through subsidies. And there is also no doubt the the subsidies and the large Tesla government backed loan is giving a significant leg up to Tesla.
It's an opinion. Not one we share, but it is an honest opinion.
OMG! Really, the woman doing the interview is an absolute DOPE. Can't believe the WSJ released that for public consumption.
I am in the process of creating a responsive dash(board) web app for Tesla owners. I won't be getting mine until Feb/Mar (P8460); however, I wanted to...
Closing in quickly now on my first 1,000 miles behind the wheel, my Tesla Grin has not faded a bit. As I've said elsewhere, I couldn't be more impressed...
