SAN CARLOS, Calif. – Tesla Motors, manufacturers of performance electric vehicles, will preview their new high-performance sports car, the Tesla Roadster, at Soirée du Vin, a celebration of fine wine, food and fashion scheduled for October 15 in Palo Alto.
“We are proud to be a part of Silicon Valley, and this event benefits a worthy Silicon Valley cause,” said Martin Eberhard, CEO and co-founder of Tesla Motors. “It’s a chance for us at Tesla Motors to get to know some of our neighbors.”
Soirée du Vin supports the International School of the Peninsula, located in Palo Alto. The event will be held in the gardens of a historical residence designed by Birge M. Clark, providing a dramatic backdrop for the evening’s festivities.
Among the event”s highlights: an auction including a test drive of a Tesla Roadster, fine wines, weekend getaways and more; a showing of gowns by fashion designer Azadeh; and a gourmet dinner with wine pairings provided by Café Primavera owner Joanna Biondi.
Tickets are $250 per person. More information is available at www.soireeduvin.org.
The Tesla Roadster, unveiled in July, boasts the equivalent of 135 mpg and a range of 250 miles on a single charge, a combination heretofore unseen in a mass-produced electric vehicle. Its extended range is due to its state-of-the-art lithium-ion Energy Storage System, and is capable of going from 0-60 mph in about four seconds. First deliveries are planned for next summer.
