Blue, BLUE, BLUE!!!!!

While I was looking at the various colors from the Model S (at the showroom), the Metallic Blue should be one of the FIRST choices available for this car (IMHO)! It looks almost black at night, but in the daylight, fantastic!

Of all the colors available (that they are showing currently), the Metallic Blue really sets this vehicle in a higher class, and would really draw attention to future would-be buyers!

I'm in love with your blue cars

Seriously, I didn't find the Tesla S blue paint chip very endearing. Blue has always been a bankers' color, and the way banks behave today...

I liked the blue. It's as rich and deep a blue as the Signature is a red. If I wasn't buying a Sig, it would be a tough choice to pick the color.

I love the blue. Please add it to the Signature color options!

My previous car was the same shade of blue so I'll have to change it up this time around. Warning, that shade of Blue and Black colors are hard to keep looking clean... :)

The blue is nicer than the signature red to me...unfortunately it's not a signature color... So my Signature will probably be white. :-(

Hey toto, at least you won't have to wash it as often as those of us who go with the dark red. :)

That's what teenage sons are for, Mycroft! :-)

"Bennie, if you wash my car, I'll unlock 10 more kW for your next drive."

Most teenage sons don't agree they're "for" anything, and are ingenious and unrelenting in their efforts to prove it. >:-|
;)

Does the Signature only come in 1 colour?

Yes. Except if you count white, gray, and black as "colors".

hmm, so its that metallic red/burgundy?

met gray should be cool

I think someone reported that selection is just preliminary, that more would be revealed "later".

That's what has been said. But "later" may be "too late" for the Signature series.

Can someone explain to me, that is show me, what Lacewood is? When I google it, it talks about the pattern in the grain, which I understand, but all of the examples are light brown in color. The example given by tesla looks grey or black.

Thanks,

Lacewood is the lumber of a specific Australian tree. It has ,as you have seen on the internet, a very attractive grain pattern. Some domestic trees, oak and sycamore for instance, can come close to this pattern when quarter sawn. The lacewood trim for the Model S has been (apparently) dyed or stained black. I very much like the effect and plan to order it for my car. I think it is very classy looking.

My5bAby, if you go to the Teslarumors.com website, specifically to this link: http://teslarumors.com/Videos_6.html
The first video you'll see will show you the interior of a Model S with black Lacewood and you can start seeing some great images of it about 33 seconds into the video.

Thanks,

Tesla will be stupid to exclude Sig owners from all other 'regular' colours...

The other way round makes sense, though.

Maybe so, but I think maybe that wanted the Sig. to be very distinctive/exclusive. If you buy one of the "regular" colors you're going incognito.

I'll wait to see the lacewood in person. I love exotic wood grains, but that video makes the dashboard look like it has the measles.

That's part of the deal of receiving your car early. They simply don't have the paint shop set up for all those different colors when manufacturing the Signature series. At least that's my understanding.

One robot paints all the colors. They don't switch robots for different colors. Different robots might paint different parts. Maybe it's the paint or pigments they won't have in time.
The Sig does paint Sig red, solid black, metallic silver and the premium white so all types will be possible just not all colors.

If I got the Sig it would be black since the other colors are not available. The red looks great but my wife would have to buy a whole new wardrobe to go with it! :-)

again: They are stupid if you can't 'choose' your colour from all the colours of you pay the full whack, irrespective of the 'incognito' issue.
I also suspect the dark metallic blue is a typically premium type colour in Europe anyway.....
Then again, Europe....

:)

if you pay...

aAndlast but not least: I don't understand why the newest blog posting is at the BOTTOM of the thread instead of the top(reverse order).

Then again, I am European......

Interesting question as to why European Sigs shouldn't have access to the full range of colors, given that Tesla will have begun production of U.S. General Production vehicles by then. No "paints are set up" excuse possible (unless Tesla is going to delay General Production deliveries based on colors, which we haven't heard anything about).

The Signature color issue has been a bit of a sticking point for me, as well. I don't want a red car, but I do want the Signature car. I wish there was a second "Signature only color" to choose from. The design studio for the Production S series has all of the colors. That implies that the methodology/pigments/or however they do it has already been worked out. If it's true that the same robots are used for all the paint colors, I just can't wrap my head around the concept of not having all colors available 6 months from now when my Sig comes off the line. I'm sure there is a rational reason. I just haven't seen it adequately addressed. Regardless, that won't be a factor in whether I stay with my Sig reservation or drop to P. But, the full range of color choices would certainly make me a lot happier and comfortable staying where I am!

A burnt orange similar to Aston Martin or Bentley would also be stunning. It is also exceptionally classy and if limited to the Sig would be my first choice in a heartbeat. As it is - probably stick with boring white.
Altho' Australia will be after USA and Europe so we may have a better choice by then.
