Why don't we see products like the AuraGen on electric / hybrids to help recharge the batteries while in motion? http://www.aurasystems.com/pages/prod_exploded.html

Regen/braking recovers energy while stopping -- because any drag on the wheels/car slows it. Trying to drive and charge from the "motion" is a lose-lose proposition, as are all perpetual motion schemes.

Been there, debated that in numerous other threads.

Like Brian said, with current tech, it's a loss every time.

On the other hand regenerative braking is of use. A four wheel regenerative braking system is better than only on the rear or only on the front. Saves brake pads too.

That is only possible with 4 wheel drive, so look for it in the Model X, but the Model S won't have it.

He knows that Brian. He's talking about additional recovery from 4 wheel braking, not the usual 2nd law violation scheme.

Currently Tesla's drivetrains are two wheel systems, thus regen braking is only on those two wheels. With the 4 wheel drive system, the regen will be from all 4 wheels instead of two.

Brings an interesting question to mind; since very little use is made of the brakes, virtually all the accel/decel stress is taken by the rear wheels. Has anyone used/recommended tire rotation to even the wear between front and back?

Look in the user manual of your current car :P
There's a rotation regimen already there.

The rotation is quite limited as the front tires and rear are two different sizes and cannot be switched. Then I am now running Contential Extreme Contact DWS and they have a right and left tread pattern that will not allow swapping across the axle.
