THIRD Speeding Ticket

OK, there's already a First Model S Speeding ticket thread. But they could happen just by chance or bad luck. We want to know what it's like to be a real lead-foot MS adrenaline junkie, who cares not about his/her future insurance costs or the risks of license suspension.

So let's hear about your 3rd speeding ticket!

Sorry. Obviously, 2nd post is correction of 1st (link closure).

Fix the first. As a thread starter you can edit it.

Doh. I knew that. Too late! But did fix it anyway.

Knock on wood, no tickets yet but I deserve them in all honesty!

wicked fast car right up to speed limit + 10. NO MORE. Even with TC I can start to feel it give. Without TC, I'd be best friends with a telephone pole by now.

Anyone start to feel the front end steering get a little mushy during rapid acceleration into a headwind? I'd prefer not to become a pilot.

You need a nose spoiler.

Particularly now as we collectively establish this car's reputation, it would be great if we don't drive crazy and get tickets and crash. Insurance rates for everyone will go up if the MS gets a "bad" reputation.

@Thumper, I hear your fears but I have a lot of confidence in our Telsa Motors Model S wielding brothers, we aren't the type of folks to be unwise behind the wheel, we are having fun however! :)

Got my first today from California Highway Patrol. What really surprised me was how quickly he went after me. I was only going fast for about 10 seconds. Jumped in the fast lane, accelerated, then moved right for my exit and he was already on me. I thought they would at least observe you for a few seconds. I guess he just saw me passing people and that was it. First ticket in several years. Hopefully I will be able to attend traffic school to mend my ways...

EcLectric,

FYI... You can do traffic-school on-line now days, at your own pace. Much better than wasting a full Saturday, listening to a ex-cop chastise a room full of people.

Is that "traffic school" usual punishment US (based on it lasting one day/taking it online??) or what are you two talking about? In here traffic school takes more like a year, not days, and you certainly can't do it on line.

@Brian-

It was a little unnerving and felt like I was starting to rotate. My reflex was to push the steering wheel forward to avoid the stall warning indicator ;p I may drop a bag of sand in the frunk to avoid future events since a few lost miles won't trouble me.... at least until the state electricity subsidy expires.

@Timo | JANUARY 12, 2013: Is that "traffic school" usual punishment US

Traffic school is offered as an alternative to having to pay a fine for a traffic violation. Usually the cost of the school is higher than the violation ticket, but the traffic offense is not counted against you. Most jurisdictions limit the number of times you can substitute traffic school for a violation to one every few years.

@Alex K, thanks, that makes sense. I was getting a "world is a really weird place" -feeling again, but as punishment that is actually good system. Who knows, we might have that too, but I haven't got any tickets ever so I don't know.

I would have argued that you sped up to change lanes. That is when it's acceptable to go beyond the speed limit if it was just a short burst!

@BYT - only on a 2-lane road.

No tickets yet, but have had two incidents where cops on bikes rush up and give me the evil eye (or Tesla envy grin) for pushing the limits. On of them flashed their lights and said something on the mega-phone, but my stereo goes to 11 so I couldn't hear what they said.
