Personal Confession, my feelings with my Model S

Hi All,

I had to write to confess this morning that I woke up with an extra big smile on my face, and extra skip in my step and a confidence and happiness that I must admit I haven't felt in a REALLY long time. I feel really weird about it too!! Is it normal for a car to give one such a great feeling that is contagious, others have noticed, and my wife jokes that I love the car more then her (which isn't true, it's just new). Anyway, wanted to share my confession and get opinions. I really love the car and have to wonder if this is how Elon feels all the time, well, when he's not worrying about Tesla Motors, SpaceX and Solar City that is? :)

Awesome posts, thanks to everyone!

You are going to take a bath with your Audi, it's best to get an ad on craigslist and put it in

I am in the same boat with my 2013 Volvo, I have to sell it to be able to afford my Tesla. If I do not sell it soon then I am shit out of luck.

Anyone want a sexy new Volvo for their wife or kid? =)

And the company that is taking trade in's in CA offer whole sale prices so it's better to sell it yourself.

GLarwill, three weeks?! You're kidding. I reserved four years ago...

I've sold many car's on Craigslist as well, it can be done! :) Be careful of scams online however, they love to respond to CL adds!!!

On a side note, today is my Birthday and I get to drive a Model S to work and take a couple co-workers in it to lunch for the first time for them to show it off.

Happy Birthday BYT!!!

Happy Birthday @BYT!

Happy Birthday BYT!

Just got my insurance quote after getting my VIN. I should have saved a few of those speeding tickets for the Model S :-) The speed limit for me for a long while to come.

Awww, feeling that Tesla love, thanks, nickjhowe and July10Models!!

Also July10Models, careful about getting too many tickets as insurance will spike and they can yank your license. As a kid (in my 20's) I was always 1 ticket away from loosing my free ride badge provided as a privilege and not a right from the DMV. Or so they would always tell me... :)

@ BYT Happy Birthday!!

@ lajollan Congrats on your clean bill of health! I too have bad genes which is why I go to the gym (which is where my H.A. occurred)

I also think life is too short so after my stent was put in I upgraded from the 60Kwh to the 85-Peformance!!

Can't wait til February!!

My Model S delivery came without warning Wednesday...a phone call from the transport truck driver with an estimated drop off time 5-6 hours out. It was hard to get ANY work done Wednesday!

He asked me a few questions about the car when I signed the paperwork, explaining that he wasn't with Tesla and had only driven a total of a few miles in several cars backing them off the truck. So with my big Tesla grin, I told him to get in and I'd give him a ride. He disembarked on the rest of his journey with an envious Tesla grin!

I love this car!!! And the gawk factor is awesome!

I got my S Dec 23rd, best Christmas of my life. I haven't had as much fun driving since I first got my license at 16! A remarkable car.

I got mine about 2 weeks ago (P5267), performance, black, grey 21 inch rims (looks evil).

Generally speaking, I'm a simple fellow. I view cars more practically as getting from point A to point B type. I have been driving a honda civic hybrid since 2004/5. So, this was a little (a lot) out of character for me. I'm not a big "car guy", and I've never really been excited about a car.

This car changed it for me ... from the time I got my "ready to configure" email, to the time of delivery I was eager. It felt like the eagerness of a child leading up to Christmas morning.

When I got it, I was nearly speechless. It just put a smile on my face which I have been unable to remove. I work from home, so I don't do any commuting. I now find myself making excuses to just drive it somewhere for the fun of driving. I never thought having or driving a car could be this fun.

For those still waiting, it is worth the wait. For those who have taken delivery ... yeehaw!

You may find some inspiration in this thread:

On a side note, has anyone else been getting e-mails from journalists or market research organizations. I've gotten both over the past week.

Heading home tonight, will be driving the car tomorrow!

Wife had to drive her minivan to work today to sell it, was depressed... My 12-yeat old, who hates any kind of change (I'm about ready to lie to him, say he was adopted), finally has realized what a cool car this is...

Thanks. Indeed, I will try the mountain/hill drive to Marin (SF Bay area). I've been making more trips than necessary per one of the posts in that link!

@xradr, I know the feeling very well... :)

I am beginning to wonder if a visit to a psychologist is in order.
I have never ever experienced such obsession like I am feeling about the S!! This coming from someone who has never displayed such obsessive/compulsive behavior ever!

1) I obsessively check My Tesla page for the Configure button EVERY DAY (numerous times I might add)
2) I read the forum several times everyday or suffer withdrawal symptoms
3) I even went online to CA DMV and got my vanity plate 'L@TESLA'. <- @ is actually the heart sign
4) I find myself muttering 'Wait till I get my Tesla and I will blow you away!' while driving my placeholder Prius (such bottled up aggression ! ) and being tail gated, flashed, passed, ...
5) Looking for dog seat belt (so my puppy doesn't cause a crash). She has free rein in my car today. Anyone who knows my relationship with my pups will know I have definitely lost my heart to Tesla like it's a living, breathing gorgeous hunk
6) I can't stop talking about Tesla to anyone who is still listening anymore
7) Even got my friends calling and reporting their sightings of Tesla. Ok, they are doing it on their own accord.

HELP! I think I need Intervention for my addiction...

P12704 in anguish

I have been so eager to have an electric car. In 2008, I converted my Chevy S10 pickup to electric and have driven it
for 23000 miles. My Tesla P3714 Model S 60 kWh is supposed to be delivered 1/19-2/2. I am retired so I spend way to much time
here. LOL

I have brought everyone I know to the Tesla store and given them the sales pitch. Last w/e while I was showing the car to 1 friend, 2 other sets of friends happened to stop by and I gave them the pitch as well. I was there over an hour working for Tesla!!!! Working for free and loving it!!!! So far I have convinced 2 friends to plunk down a deposit. You can say I am drunk on the Kool-Aid. I've spec'd my car out patiently awaiting the delivery button to show up.

For your subsequent posts, you can insert the Heart symbol directly. It's easy. Hold down the Alt key, enter 3 on the numeric keypad, and release! ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ....

The above applies to PCs. For Mac, some Apple user can give the equivalent. There are many other symbols etc. available, too. ☺♀☻♦↕► ...

Brian H, thanks for the tip.
Let me try it.

Oops! I don't frigging know where the alt key is on my iPad :-(

I will have to go to my trusty laptop to try it out (as you're suggesting in the 1st place :-) )

It's been over six weeks with the Model S. The new software remapped the pedal and the feel of the acceleration is better than ever. Being able to hold the steering wheel button and say "Drive to Tesla Supercharger" and they or any other destination you say is on the screen and ready for navigation selection.

The comfort of the seats, the outrageous "live" sound quality of the radio, plus the Slacker Internet radio choices make it a memorable experience. This is the vehicle I want to drive as much as possible.

Smooth quiet roads make the Model S even better. Set the cruise control for extra luxury. Your guests will appreciate all the extra room that makes their ride comfortable as well. After driving a Volt for a year, I can truly say I appreciate the extra size in width and length that gives the Model S the feel of "just the right size."

Thanks to all at Tesla Motors for a magnificent ride and a spectacular car.

In reading all of your posts I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is obsessed with Tesla.

New Word --Teslaholic.

I too:
check the boards several times a day
Have 2 different Tesla jackets
Have the license plate frame that says my next car is electric Tesla
Have my new vanity plate on my Prius
Bring friends to the local Tesla store (the employees know me by name)
Will speak to business associates and friends (or anyone who will listen) about Tesla
Own TSLA stock
The list can go on and on

Are there any TA (teslaholics anonymous) meetings around? My wife thinks I need help. Lol

FInally...a diagnosis for my ailment. I feel relieved that I am not the only Teslaholic.
christine_orita and lightly - I am right up there with you.

I wonder if my symptoms will change once I receive my MS?

No. Direct exposure only increases the symptoms.

Before receiving my Model S, I was obsessing on these forums as well and can relate to my fellow Teslaholics! We need to get that word in the Urban Dictionary! :D

Now that I HAVE my Model S, I don't want to see another gas guzzling car on the road and get annoyed that I have to breath in the fumes like second hand smoke. I all of the sudden want to do all the chores that require taking out my Model S (except for trips that involve food). I fight through traffic to get at the front of the line at the stop light, turn on my rear camera and burn through the electrons watching the traffic disappear behind me and my passengers (who don't get car sick) get really giddy as I tell them to watch the screen. At the next light, the cars around me stop and look and must be thinking either A) what a maniac or B) what the hell just happened.

Yeah, your level Teslaholicism doesn't go away, it will just transform like a caterpillar into a butterfly and you will wake up with a Tesla grin hoping that the sun is out, the roads are dry and traffic is light!

I reserved Dec 12, 2011 & took delivery Oct 2, 2012. I spent countless hours on these forums, much to my husband's dismay. As of today, I have 3,871 miles on my Model S. I am very aware that people are checking out the car and not me! I even had a guy in a pick up truck in front of me at a stop sign taking pictures with his phone. That was quite hilarious.

There is one guy at work that I refuse to take for a ride in my car. He's an ICE snob, kinda my way of punishing him for dissing my car. Go ahead and brag about your Trans Am! I have the 2013 MT car of the year LOL

For all you still waiting for your Model S... when you get the car you'll spend more time in it than on these forums. It's worth every second you have to wait! Well gotta go driving and check out the new software update I finally got ☺
