Tony Goodman Dallas, Texas
Any others in Dallas?
The A Loft (across from the Omni Hotel) definitely has 2 Blink stations. Hope that's helpful! :)
Heard from the local store that they will open all 3 Texas service centers at the same time - and that the Houston center may be the last to get ready.
Any idea if the service centers (especially Dallas) will be able to do state inspections? I'd love to take it there instead of Kwik Kar or something. lol
No idea - but you should take it to Kwik Kar just to watch them gawk over it - besides it takes 10min to inspect since all they do is check the turn signals and brakes. They even asked me to drive it for them.
Who (besides me) was driving a silver MS near Caruth Park this afternoon? I tried pursuing without breaking too many laws. Lost you around Marquette & Turtle Creek.
@markapeterman: I'm definitely considering that! Hopefully they'll let me drive it too, because the thought of one of those guys behind the wheel of my S freaks me out a little.
I spoke with the Dallas service manager on Sunday 1/13, Jack Batson. He said he is a mobile service manager so far. He said they are ready to open the Dallas service center but they want to have all 3 TX service centers opened at the same time. Houston was the critical path as the city inspection people were debating that the normal ICE safety and waste requirements need to be followed. Tesla is trying to prove that they'll never have an ICE vehicle in the service center for repairs. Normal resistance to change ;)
In any case, Mr. Batson seems to be a great rep for Tesla. He was trying to fill in all of the contact gaps he had and make sure all of the due bill items were on order for me.
His business number is 510-578-8645 if you need to get hold of him.
@sandman - Thanks for the info and the contact number. My car is on a truck headed this way and should be here Friday or Saturday so I think I will keep that handy. Also, huge thanks for the "instructions" on how to get registered, huge help!
Gratz on the incoming S! thanks to Mark and others as well on the TX registration and title process as well. I had to correct my tesla delivery specialist today based on their experience. Tesla had thought my car was delivered with CA papers and they were trying to get me to mail in my temp registration so they could release the title???
Been trying to keep mental notes of the folks on the boards in Dallas with their S. Here's what I've got so far:
J King - Blue, twin chargers, 85 KWH battery, Tan Leather, Tech package, body color roof, 21 inch wheels, Sound system, Rear facing seats.
Sandman - Dolphin Grey, Black/Lacewood, P85, pano, tech, 21" grey, kids seats
Terk on 1/19 or 1/20?
Anyone else out there have theirs yet? I know there are more than 4!!!
Anyone taken a Model S between Houston and Dallas yet?
If so, where did you get charges - and how long did it take?
My S is a standard 85/blue/tan/matte/tech/pano/19/kids seats
Silver, black leather/red piping, carbon, P85, pano, tech, 21" grey, sound system
Interesting that John's configuation was my second choice and Sandman's was my third. Would be fun to get them all together.
@bp I took mine between Dallas and San Antonio. Charged at Blink and Chargepoint connections in several locations. I have twin chargers The highest charge rate was 18 miles of range per hour. THe lowest was 14 miles of range per hour. That is from a 207 volt connection on the lowest charger(Blink at Dallas Executative airport). The charge point chargers gave 17 or 18 miles of range per hour and were mostly around 240 volts. Thanks again to Mark for loaning me his adaptor.
JK - how long did it take you to do the Dallas - San Antonio trip?
Did you do it in one day - or two days?
That trip is around 280 miles - so you must have had to stop at least once on the way - and at 18 miles per hour charging - that would have extended your driving time quite a bit.
My wife had a few veto colors: green and red. Other than those, I had all of the colors on my design page for a while.
I'll talk to the service manager and see if we can stage a gathering during the service center opening or just after.
One more Dallas-ares, still incoming; March/April expectation, getting anxious (#7544).
2013 Red, tan leather, Tech, 21", body color roof, sound package, air suspension, parcel shelf, body armour, 60KwH battery + supercharging, obeche wood matte, garage wired and ready (no HPWC), SMU area
A gathering at the Service Center when it opens is a great idea. I went by there the other day and it does look like its ready to open without much more prep.
Thanks for the name and # for Jack Batson, will be good to have.
@bp I am driving from Houston to Dallas this weekend. I plan to stop at one of the RV parks on the way up and again on the way back. I have several apps that seem to be pretty good at locating RV parks (Allstays, RVParking, RV ParkFinder). I'll post my experiences here when the trip is complete.
@bp The distance is really closer to 300 miles. On the way to San Antonio, we stopped in Georgetown and stayed overnight. Not bad since we had to leave after school. George Town is wonderful, a very nice place to wait and enjoy. Left the car charging in a parking lot about a mile and a half from the hotel. The charge rate was about 17 or 18 miles per hour of charge. On the wway back, we stopped at George town for dinner and thought we charged enough to return, (We charged about 4 hours) Turns out we were wrong. As the temperature dropped, the power use went up. We tried to charge at the eVgo location at the cracker barrrel in Desoto. Turns out that eVgo has no casual use possibility. You have to pay them 20 per month whether you use the system or not, and you have to set it up in advance. We sat and tried to get their customer service center on the line, but they never answered. We ended up at the Dallas executative airport. That charger worked, but only at about 14 miles of range per hour of charge. We finally got to the house with 7 miles of range remaining at around 2:30 in the morning. Freezing, to preserve range. The car failed to charge at my daughters 240 volt 10-30 outlet. I had purchased a plug adaptor to allow the NEMA 14-50 adaptor from Tesla to plug into the 10-30 outlet in her garage, but the connector cable would not recognize the outlet. The outlet was tested with a volt meter so I know it is live. I ended up driving around and finally leaving the car overnight charging in San Antonio. I have requested additional adaptors from Tesla. They say they are available, even though they are not on teh Tesla store. however they will be at least a month before they are delivered.
PS There are NEMA 14-50 outlets all over George Town. unfortunately they would not connect to my mobile connection cable. I have not been able to find any information on those outlets.
standard 85/blue/tan/matte/tech/active air/sound/body color roof/19
I went back and forth on the color between grey and silver and blue. It would be great to get together and see the different configurations so I would be up for meeting at the service center (or other location as well).
@J King - Great story, thanks for sharing.

Big truck pulled into my neighborhood and delivered my Model S this morning. It's an impressive machine, my only complaint so far is that it barely fits in my garage.
Finalized my order Jan-19. Estimated delivery date of February/March
List Dallas Model S owners and their configs. Here's what we've got so far and huge GRATZ to David10 on his 1/20 arrival! Hope you are having a blast with it! Try not to just sit in the garage in it too long. I find the wife has an issue with that. Instead manufacture some errands to run :) Still waiting on Terk to announce his arrival which is not good news :(

Hi All - Just got my Model S this evening after what can only be described as a total goat rope of a delivery. Driver would not pull in the neighborhood, I had to find a place he would pull in, he did not like the first place, took him to another (literally driving around town giving him options). Once we were finally found a place he would pull into he could not get the gate to come down so we stood around for about an hour while he messed with it. Had me "hold the button" to see if it would work while he "wiggled some connections"... Needless to say, this was not the "Make me Smile" delivery! It took quite some time but he was able to get it out. Car is dirty and has a scratch so thanks again @sandman for the contact of the local service manager, I will be calling him first thing (after I get it inspected so I can drive it legally...). It is such a sweet ride but I will do my best for everyone else to be heard loud and clear by Tesla that this delivery process is NOT acceptable...
