We are all behind you.
makes building an electric car seem like child's play. good luck Elon!
Yes, best of luck sir!
This IS rocket science...hope all goes smoothly...
Argh. Coitus interruptus. Countdown reached 0, firing and liftoff began, but aborted before any motion occurred because of some indicator in a fuel line (low flow?). Next attempt Tues 3:44 a.m EDT. Another opportunity the next day at 3:22 a.m.
just an overly tight shutdown parameter on the #5 engine pressure; they're going to widen the tolerance and go again on Tuesday
Careful, sometimes "overly tight" tolerences have a, perhaps long forgotten, reason. On the other hand, they had an excellent, full pucker dry run which should bode well for the future if they don't get into too big a hurry.
Latest is that they're replacing the valve itself:
Today’s launch was aborted when the flight computer detected slightly high pressure in the engine 5 combustion chamber. We have discovered root cause and repairs are underway.
During rigorous inspections of the engine, SpaceX engineers discovered a faulty check valve on the Merlin engine. We are now in the process of replacing the failed valve. Those repairs should be complete tonight. We will continue to review data on Sunday.
If things look good, we will be ready to attempt to launch on Tuesday, May 22nd at 3:44 AM Eastern
Darn it . . Can't believe I woke up at 4:45am EST to watch the launch (on the NASA channel) and it didn't go :)
This time it's 3:44am. Hmmm. I wonder if I can record the launch on the NASA channel (on ROKU)?
Seriously, we're all rooting for Space X. I hope all goes well and the capsule can connect to the ISS.
Dragon is at the orbit. Everything did go as planned. Couple of days and it docks to ISS. Great webcast.
Yeah pretty awesome to watch dock planned for Friday
Took me a while, but I finally found a video of the launch (there are plenty of videos from the aborted launch)
This is a great day. We are now one step closer to vacations in space for the average, altho rich, Joe!
That was a pretty sight for those at SpaceX I am sure! And remember, they did it at a fraction of the price NASA did it for!!
Don't know if it was coincidental or not, but Tesla stock was up 7% following the successful SpaceX launch.
@DanielR: I think the bump in Tesla stock was more related to the 5 star crash test report and the announcement of the June 22nd delivery event.
