RED COLOR TIME HAS ARRIVED

Today is March 2nd. Hopefully TM started producing Red Color Tesla S. Please whoever gets any information on a first production, please post.

Congratulations JaneW! Does anyone know if a one week notice for delivery is typical?

I was told my Red Model S just finished production, will be in transit to Dallas next week, delivery moved earlier from 4/27 to 4/22. Might be the first Red in Texas!

If you haven't seen yet, check out the photos of the first Red customer pickup today:

Congrats and thanks to DLM!

I just picked up my multi-red Model S this afternoon at the Fremont factory. Speechless! Here're my pics:

vinster;
Here's a sample from your set:

Vinster, thanks for this great set of pictures It could actually get me back on track for red. I was put away by some of the early pictures, which seemed to show a VERY red color, just too red, too flat. But this seems to have more depth. Am I right? What is multi-coat actually, is it a sort of metallic?
Congrats to your great car and enjoy!

@TheFlyer: Thanks! I believe the multi-coat for the Red is quite similar to what they did for the Pearl While multi-coat. It does look sort of metallic with some depth. It does look different in the shade versus in bright sunlight. If you are unsure, best to check one out if you can.

Thanks Vinster. My wife loves the red, and I am almost convinced myself. We live in Norway, so we can't see it in real life before we spec, which we have to do right now. If the photo from inside shows its real color in the shadow, that is quite different as you say. But i don't mind the darker shade. If Signature red was an option for us, there would be no doubt in my mind. Btw, what was your choice of color before the new red was introduced? (Ours was brown) And, what decor do you have, piano black?

Great pics - thanks - Our red S85P scheduled for delivery between 4/49 and 5/10 - hoping to pick up at Fremont plant - our original was white (considered brown also) until we saw the red S at Fashion Island, CA - congrats on your beautiful new car adventure -

oops - 4/29 - about four weeks prior notice

@Vinster
Like the Badge! Like the Spoiler! Like the location of the front license plate! Can't wait.

@TheFlyer : My original choice was Pearl White, which I would've taken delivery in Dec'12 had I not deferred to red! My interior with the red is the performance package carbon fibre panels, with black seats (red piping lines). I have the alcantara headliner, so am lucky not to have been affected. If it helps, I can make a short video of the car and post to youtube.

@DC@Tesla : The spoiler does stand out with the red! If I had the choice, I would not put the front license plate, but I don't want the hassle of dealing with CHP. As is, red is well, drawing enough attention already!

Vinster, you deferred 4 months to get this color! You must have been really convinced. On my side, I am afraid the car is too BIG for red. Too much attention. But if it's not all "firetuck" red, I could be convinced too. A short video on youtube would be really great!, if it's not too much trouble.

Just received a VIN number. P 14,277; 85kWh performance; VIN 9177; Multi-coat Red; Black interior; Carbon fiber decor; Pano roof; 21" silver wheels; Tech package; Sound studio package; Active air suspension; Parcel shelf, Spoiler. Happy!!!! Production April 22-27 Delivery May 1 - May 15. Dania Beach, Florida.

Oh, happy day! Got a call from Tesla today telling me my car (VIN 7775)arrived today in Denver and is getting final inspection and detailing. We are planning delivery for this weekend (busy cleaning out garage). I had originally picked brown and was scheduled to receive it in January, but deferred for the red. 60kWh with pano roof, sound package, tech package, air suspension. Coming to Corrales, NM.

TheFlyer: Yeah, I was wondering if the red was worth the extra 4 months, but my heart was set on it and personally, I couldn't be happier now. Here's a short amateurish video of a walkaround I did this morning (There was loud lawnmower noise in the background, so I chose some featured youtube audio instrumental to replace it. :/) You can choose to view 1080P HD which should be clearer too:

YESSS!!! Delivery button. Hope mine is one of a batch, today - being on the east coast, I got to see mine first...

Reserved 12/30/2012
Finalized 2/26
#17282
red/grey, 85, air

I worried some that mine would be far down the list due to lack of loaded-ness (if you know what I mean), but given that we were fairly recent finalizers, I'm impressed with how they are clearing the red backlog.

I think TM is now "demand constrained", not production. They can make 'em and ship 'em as fast as they're ordered.

Thanks for the video, Vinster. The car sure is gorgeous. But am I man enough too choose red? Time will show, we have to make a choice very soon. I will post a comment on your youtube video when I have decided. Thanks again and enjoy your beautiful car!

@TheFlyer

Being female, I am definitely not man enough to choose red. But that didn't stop me. Nor should it stop you.

Not all deliveries are entirely propitious. Check this out.
We got it, but can't drive it!

Sorry. Previous movie went down.
Here's the arrival in mud and snow.
Maybe get to drive it my Sunday or Monday. :(

Love it Jane! Beautiful, even in the snow and mud. Where in the world is this, Canada? Could have been Norway, where the winter still clings.

At 7000 feet in the hills above Boulder, CO.
Snow on ice today. Car still in garage. Phooey.

I saw Red.

Today I witnessed the arrival of the second RED Tesla in Seattle.

Did it leave a green after-image?

With the bright sunlight on it today, yes it did.

@Captain_Zap

Bright sunlight. Go head. Rub it in.

Three feet deep and still snowing here in Colorado.

Need a Tesla Snow Cat.

@JaneW

It was in Seattle so it only lasted a couple minutes. We do gush about it when it happens. It is such a shock to our systems.

It sounds like you are getting what is left of our weather from last week.

Mine is leaving from Denver on Friday for delivery Saturday. Hope the weather holds up on that end. Weather here is gusty (Albuquerque).
