Please use this forum topic to share your ideas for new website features or to let Tesla know if you find a bug. Thanks!
I agree that it sometimes doesn't set the new flag correctly, but I don't know exactly how it works. However it's working fine on multiple pages for me...
Greg.
Greg;
Really? I've never once seen a new flag on an individual post after page 1.
Also, the top-of-page jump menu is gone again. Have to scroll to bottom on multiple pages. The site is decaying before our very eyes!
;p
When I click on the "2 new" (or whatever) on the General page, it took me straight to page 4 and your post (flagged "new"). Are you doing that? I agree if you click on the thread title, by the time you get to page 4, the flag is gone again.
Greg.
Thanks for having created this forum!
It certainly is good for us customers to have it.
What is good for your customers, is good for Tesla Motors.
A suggestion: Can't you have a Telsa workforce lurk in from time to time on this fprum? Some interesting discussions tend to be diverted and someone from Tesla could bring the discussion back on track!
ggr;
Yes, that works fine. I hadn't tried that. I'd been going to the Forum first pages and then looking for "New". Thx.
For the love of all that's sane, give us a edit ability
V.;
Yes, that should have been "an edit ability", and I know you just ITCH to fix it!
;)
I wouldn't have to fix it if my phone hadn't fixed it for me!

Having this forum moderated would be nice.
dsm363. Careful what you ask for. I think it self moderates pretty good. Besides, I would possibly be the first one to go,ha.Followed by various and other sundry characters if one wnts to get "techni" about it. I refer to "rudeness", tight little technical cliques who might try to dominate and control the site with a "pile on" mentatlity. Also other negative manifestations of group social behavior which soo often is not pretty and I might add, strictly against the rules of the website. But this type negative group behavior is almost a given in any group of human beings be it workplace or other organized groups and I am sure the Tesla people have done their "sociology" on this.
All previously said was if you were referring to the human componet. If you were referring to some technical componet then graciously disregard my above comments.
No, a well moderated forum helps keep people on topic. Moves posts that are wildly off topic to a new thread or suggests people on topic. Has nothing to do with techie types vs anyone.
This used to be a very useful forum for owners, potential owners and fans of Tesla.
dsm363, I have observed very "on topic" discussions between owners,potential owners, and interested fans of Tesla and have observed they are very engrossed and sharing much useful "on topic" information so I fully see your point about the usefulness of the excange of information. For example I was amazed at the long discussion about driving in the snow and ice and if I had been a Tesla R&D person I could probably have picked up some useful information from the "field" so to speak. See my comments to BrianH about getting disoriented in recent snowstorm here at night and completely passing my unlit house,ha.
But now here is where I become a pest likely. I don't own a Tesla but I definitely am a fan for numerous reasons not the least "maybe we can stay out of oil wars". I do not know a thing about the Teslas other than what I have learned here. But I like to throw esoteric questions out there which probably have nothing to do with the actual "nuts and bolts" of a Tesla that the owners etc. are vitally concerned with. I tried to keep my last suggestion in the submit ideas section. I have two more there since then. One involving feasibility of home distilling for running motors to charge EV's, the other with tweaks that could possibly do with extending the battery range and life in the area of battery maintenance or actual procedures to the batteries. All way out non topical stuff I grant. Most of my comments are in the form of questions with no particular advocacy, just throwing it out there. Certainly with no wish to distract. I have said this before but I will start a thread with a very esoteric format, very non specific, can get as far off topic as want to etc and not get in the way of the more practical stuff. Probably wont contribute much but "what if" type questions and comments although might be far ranging and will not have a particular topical discipline to stay with might possibly be interesting, fun, and at least amusing to the more technically advanced. So I will eventually get around to starting such a thread. May have to talk to myself though,ha.
Think I have said this to you before, don't want to be a distraction in any way. But do want to participate in the dialog as it is fascinating to me. I do enjoy defending various suggestions as it is just fun to me and I take no offense if somebody disagrees with me{did to start with though, but got used to it, it happened so often,ha} just interesting to try to get my possibility over in discussion now.
Have a good evening or whatever it is in your time zone.
searcher;
In your hunger and drive to be understood, your terseness quotient goes out the window. It's like your motto is, "Why use 2 words when 10 will do?"
And the Unintended Consequence is probably that 90% of what you write goes unread. Resulting in half as much net words read as the terse 20% would have garnered.
It's all relative, said Big Al!
Brian H, Your wonderful consultations kick in again and all for free, what a deal. I will grant that every thing you said is true except the characterization of "my hunger and drive to be understood". As I have said before this derives more of "I like to see what I have written" which ultimate contribution would perhaps be a sleep aid for some insomiac as I have literally fallen asleep reading some of my long diatribes. So I wish it were more of drive to be understood but honestly it more likely has its origins in ego.
As far as what percentage I have written gets read and understood I am not really too concerned. As the 90 per cent that gets unread is probably a good thing,ha. Not to be too self deprecating I just enjoy reading all you other peoples stuff to. But see my notes to dsm363 I will honestly start a thread where more off topic stuff can be discussed in a less disciplined to topic mode and maybe stay out of the way of the more technically pertinent stuff. I had a name for the thread recently, will try to remember it. Will not solicit names for the thread, thank you,ha.
Now I have been brutally honest to myself and about myself as to self criticisms etc. Would be interesting to see you do a self critique with the same quotient of brutally honest self appraisal. The gauntlet is down,ha. I no longer have a problem with you but would be intersting to see your self critque.
searcher;
Oh, I did that a long time ago, and as a result all my imperfections have been eliminated. No need for your assistance, thankyewverymuch.
;)
;P
Please change the submit button above the formatting information. I think I have figured out why some of my posts have not appeared here, and that is I have forgotten to push the submit button because it not visible below writing field.
Aw come on Brian H, ENCORE,ENCORE
Brian H, Will say in defense of your posts they are entertainig, amusing,and actually quite technically sharp. Bet thats what you put down when you did your self cartharsis. Did I leave out anything.Better hurry this is a strictly "on topic" driven medium and I will be getting lambasted. "Yerverwecam"
Hey guys, enough already.
Suggestion: delete all not directly on topic messages from Tesla sticky threads including this website feedback. Make moderation a lot more strict here.
Great Website...
needs some refinement using the Firefox Browser... Clicking through the page prodúce some strange...

PLEASE provide a search function. This is one of the few sites on the web without one. It's possible to use external search engines by specifying "site: " but that's very awkward.
Control by area of the site, date range, etc. would be wonderful.
PLEASE!
The 'blockquote' tag doesn't actually do anything. It doesn't indent, italicize, or in any way distinguish the quotation as far as I can see.
RSS feeds on the forums would be very useful.
Lots of spam recently. You need some method of validating that person registering is a person and not a bot. And then ban that person if there is spam coming from him/her/it.
Moderating should be a bit faster.
Hover your mouse just below the text, and there's a "flag as inappropriate" option. I use it on all your posts. ;)
Website Degradation
It's been a while since the new site layout was instituted, and I find myself really missing, and lamenting the loss of, the material from the earlier forum.
Even more, I lament the complete loss of any sense of connection with management and Tesla insiders. The columns or forums run by senior engineering, marketing, and administration personnel were core features.
They have utterly vanished. I will refrain, but I'd only have very rude things to say about the judgment and attitude of the person(s) who made that decision.
The removal of the "search" access to forum (and site) content is also a remarkable degradation of site value. Whose brilliant idea was that?

BrianH, Is that by any chance a self portrait of you. Ruggedly handsome, very ruggedly in fact.
no it must be Timo. He mentioned his shoulders being some 25 inches so he doesn't fit into a Roadster :-)
I modify my complaint somewhat: the "Blogs" do offer some connection with Tesla mgmt., etc. That's where the S-engineering videos are, e.g.
But pretty slim pickings otherwise so far.
The pic. is of Dr. Bruce Bannister, in his bad-tempered "Hulk" mode.

Passion, while trite, is a word that easily describes the owners and followers of this young Tesla family.
