Now off to make some choices... P779

I spoke to the head of the customer experience team at the Palo Alto event. If my memory serves he said they have 20 delivery specialists already and are recruiting 30 more. If they have 50, I'd guess they will struggle to deliver more than 100 cars per day, but that would still be 2000+ cars in a single month.

So - with 20 in Sept ramping to 50 in Nov/Dec they should have the hand-over capacity to meet the 5k target. If production can keep up, we are good to go.

We've been left with the impression that production capacity (1 shift) is about 85 cars per day. So no worries about trying to deliver > 100 per day. Also I'm guessing they expect to be running flat out for most of the last 10 weeks to make their 5000 quota.

The paperwork I got this week siad I would be contacted 1 month prior to delivery. Is there a list tracking this?

Michael
All the S & SSL & F & R will already be gone.

Just curious how the higher P #'s ,3400+, are getting dates in nov/dec. when those of us with slightly earlier #'s ( me at 2982) have received paperwork with dates of dec/ jan.

@Capt601 - could it be that you have a 60KWH and they are shipping 85KWH sooner? I'm 2984, and also a 60KWH with Dec-Jan commit.

P2884 with 85KWh and air suspension, Dec/Jan.

I saw a listing under the employment section for night shift production.
So maybe that's how they plan to increase capacity!

Not for mine. We have performance 85kwh on order.

@Capt: I believe it depends on the specific equipment configuration and that impacts the date.

I wish people would stop spreading rumors. 60kw leather, blue paint has posted a date of Nov/Dec. The dates change based on how the line moving. Why not call or email and just get your update expect date.

@Sudre
I agree-- I think it is likely that everyone is looking at "about December" regardless of what the paperwork says(& some of the lower reservation numbers will see November). I plan to continue enjoying my anticipation.

@sudre. Easy now. No rumors spread here. Just asking based on what people have posted and what my delivery date was quoted for P2982. Trying to understand how later #'s have received earlier dates. Doesn't make sense to me, so I was just posing the question.

I think your location also has an impact of dates and how many cars are ordered in your area. They are shipping cars not FedEx packages so they are going to group cars. That is my 2 cents.

These dates seems crazy. I am signature series, performance 148. Did my "time to build" months ago and haven't heard a thing since. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but it looks like it may be a long wait.

I have P983, but I took a while to decide and configure. I should receive the paperwork tomorrow, and I expect to turn it around the same day. I thought I remember being told that, so long as I submit the signed contract by the end of the month, my delivery date won't be delayed. Does that sound right? When am I likely to see my S (performance, pearl white, tan leather)?

CPM-P3594: I live in Washington state but will be taking delivery in Arizona. Nowhere in my paperwork does Tesla ask about delivery location. So I don't think delivery location has anything to do with it.

cerjor,

How are they arranging the Washington licensing while delivering in Arizona. Depending on when I finally complete my order, I could want delivery in California, but don't want to pay the California sales tax.

Douglas, I'm p427 performance and was told December most likely so I'm hoping before 2013. Please do share the date on your contract when you get your paperwork since you will be getting the latest date and it would probably be the same for me too.

I'm white/tan as well, but no pearl.

David70,

Very little hope has been offered on taking delivery in California and also avoiding paying taxes there.

FWIW, when I was configuring the vehicle and looked at gray leather, a little window popped up and warned that gray leather would delay delivery.

P4051 received my Time to Build email on 8/23. Ordered a blue performance model. Was told late Nov / early December. I'm in the Bay Area in California near the factory.

I'm sure your delivery is based on your configuration. Some battery sizes, colors and features haven't been released yet.

@CPM-P3594 - re delivery in WA state and taxes: I found Tesla to be very accommodating while remaining within the state tax limits for me.

I'm taking delivery at my home in WA, the MVPA paperwork lists the dealer location as "Tesla Bellevue", and I have a shipping address (for stuff other than the actual car) as my office in Oregon. Thats flexible in my book.

Since WA has no sales tax for EVs, and OR has no sales tax what so ever, I would obviously not take delivery in CA.

They make the rules, we play the game as best we can....

The dates on the MVPA's are estimates that's it. So more conservative than others. But basically, you can't be sure of your delivery data until you get your 30 day call.

Anything else is just fairy dust. So I've just decided to put it out of my mind. There's nothing I can do to change the delivery date. So I will get it when I get it.

I just got off the phone with my customer experience rep. I explained that I'm P#1117 and completed my MVPA early August. I said that my MVPA said to expect delivery in November, but based upon current MVPA dates being posted in the forums I was curious if the November date is still valid. He looked up my records and said that all he can tell me right now is that the EARLIEST I might see my car would be sometime in November, but it could be also be the end of December. It all depends upon how ramp up goes. I definitely got the impression (lots of umming and ahhing) that I'd be better served to reset my expectation to sometime in December. My reservation is for a P85 with no options that should cause any delay. He also emphasized that no one with a later P# would get theirs ahead of me. Bottom line, I'm going to pretty much forget about any delivery date at this point until I get my 30 day call or a lot more firm delivery pronouncements from Tesla are forthcoming.
I do have complete confidence that they are doing everything they can to balance speed of production with delivery of a first class car. That's all I can ask for at this time.

I received my "It's Time to Build your Model S" email today at 12:31pm CDT. I am P4724. Planning on 85KW Standard.

+1 John56: Thanks for that information. We may all need to recalibrate our expectations somewhat but, never be in doubt, our cars are coming.

I got my E-Mail notification on Friday August 24th.

I'm C-49 on the Canadian list.

So, as mentioned above, I got my "Time to Build" email on August 1, but only confirmed my configuration yesterday (August 26). Today I received and signed my MVPA, which had an estimated delivery date of Nov - Dec 2012. My number is P983, ordering a Performance S, pearl white, tan leather, sound, tech package, and 19" wheels. Delivery is Seattle.

Looks like they don't plan to delay delivery on account of my waiting to sign, albeit I was within the 30 days.

#P4432 and I just received my e-mail Monday August 27th
